Vehicle Description
The VW Vanagon / T25 is from september 1980 and has an 2.0 air
cooled engine with a four speed gearbox. It is one of the first
ones produced and one of a few left with the air intakes in the
body of the car instead of the plastic ones which were bolted on in
later production years.
Bought the Volkswagen Vanagon / T25 in september 2016 as an empty
shell while it had been standing in a barn since 1997 and hadn't
seen the road since then.
Started to take it apart and after minimal bodywork it got a fresh
layer of paint in the VW colors Agave Green (Beetle 1957/1958) and
PastelweiĆ and a black pinstripe by hand in between. Surprisingly
the car was (and is!), except for the seat belt mount rust-free and
solid. Also totally no rust in the body seams or underneath.
The Vanagon is rebuild with some good second-hand parts (instead of
new aftermarket), but mostly new (nos) parts wherever possible.
Unfortunately there aren't enough NOS parts available nowadays. The
interior is DIY and painted by a professional car painter in the
same Agave Green as the exterior. The upholstery is done in a good
quality of red coloured artificial leather and upholstered by a
upholsterer who did a lot of VW busses and tried to give the seats
a classic look.
Tha Vanagon has an 105Ah AGM household battery which is loaded by
solar power. the mounted refrigerator has a compressor and can
contain 80 liters and is suitable for solar power due to the
compressor. At the edge of the counter a LED strip is mounted which
can be dimmed by a remote control. On the dashboard is a monitor on
which you easily can see the loading process of the household
battery..
