This 1966 Ford Mustang Hi-Po GT Coupe was purchased as a partially-completed project car nine years ago by the seller, who finished the car in Raven Black over a black interior. Power is from a rebuilt K-code 289ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes forged aluminum pistons, a solid lifter camshaft, Autolite 4100 carburetor, Carter button top fuel pump, and more. Maintenance in 2018 reportedly included a new battery and an oil/filter change. Interior equipment includes factory-optional Rally-Pac gauges and an upgraded radio. This Mustang is said to be a 3-time AACA Grand National Senior award winner and is being offered with refurbishment records, a reproduction window sticker, a spare set of wheels, a car cover.This car was originally finished in Sahara Beige and was repainted in Raven Black during a refurbishment reportedly completed in 2012. Features include a black vinyl roof and red stripes located along the lower quarters.14″ styled steel wheels wear dual red line U.S. Royal Safety 800 bias-ply tires from Coker Classic that are said to be about five years old. New ball joints, bushings, and brake lines were reportedly installed during the refurbishment, and the braking system utilizes Kelsey-Hays front discs, which along with the rear brakes and proportioning valve, have reportedly been rebuilt. A spare set of four 15″ radial tires mounted on chrome styled steel wheels are included in the sale.The factory Parchment interior was replaced during refurbishment with black vinyl upholstery and matching carpets, door panels, and dashboard. Woodgrain inserts are present on the dash and center console, and Carlite Sun-X tinted glass is said to be present throughout. The seller reports that factory AM radio was converted to an Aurora Design FMR-1 AM/FM/iPod unit.This car is equipped with the factory-optional Rally-Pac column-mounted tachometer and clock. The 5-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over once and now shows 8k miles, and the seller has added about 15k miles during his ownership. The K-code 289ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt about 14k miles ago with new forged aluminum pistons, solid lifter camshaft, new lifters, stainless steel valves with hardened seats, fuel lines, and a rebuilt Autolite 4100 carburetor from Pony Carburetors. Other equipment is said to include a 6-vane water pump, a Carter Button Top fuel pump, an Autolite alternator, a quick-ratio steering box, a dual-point distributor, and a re-cored, date-stamped radiator. Service in 2018 reportedly consisted of an oil/filter change a new Autolite battery.Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission and a rebuilt 3.50:1 rear end with a Traction Loc. During the refurbishment, a new clutch and pressure plate were also installed.Photos taken during the refurbishment are provided in the gallery and show date stampings and drivetrain serial numbers. A spare set of styled steel wheels with Diamond Back Classic Radials are included in the sale, as is a car cover.
