The Mercury Comet Cyclone GT was selected for the Pace Car of the
1966 Indianapolis 500 Race. All were Cardinal Red with white
interior and power tops, all shared the unique 6H28 VIN, and all
were built in April right before the big race. This car meets all
of the criteria for being one of those 100 cars produced, but due
to Ford having no formal record of these special vehicles, it is
impossible to be certain it was a factory pace car. This special
Cyclone GT was factory-ordered with an S-code big-block 390ci power
plant, heavy-duty C6 automatic console-shifted transmission and
3.25 geared rear differential. This car is a nice restoration and
has it#39;s original engine and transmission with a fresh overhaul
on both, one repaint and great interior. Comes with the Indy 500
Pace Car decals and other automobilia. This Cyclone runs and drives
great.
