Vehicle Description
1966 Chevrolet Impala Convertible
Flashy muscle cars are fun, and polished customs are nice, but, for
some folks, there's nothing better than a well-done cruiser. No
gimmicks, no frills and no drama; just sun and fun - LOTS of
fun.
This exceptionally clean Impala is a classy stunner that mixes 350
cubic inches of power along with some nifty add ons and a
comprehensive restoration and tasteful aesthetics. And if you're
looking for a cool classic that's road ready, show-ready and just
plain battle-ready, it's the perfect way to go to your local cruise
in and turn some heads.
Exterior
From its virtually blemish free dual headlamp grille wearing a
small bow tie and script "Chevrolet" badging, to the sleek long
perfect hood covered in Danube Blue respray, then on to the
spacious trunk lid that takes up more acreage than the average new
home. Side panels are straight as the stainless trim molding that
stretches from stem to stern. Brite work is near perfect and
correct with the galloping impala and V8 on the front quarter
panel. The white convertible top powers up and down with the flick
of a switch and is clean as a whistle...but why would one ever put
it up?! American Racing 5-spoke chromed wheels are one all four
corners and are wrapped with Futura Super Sport GLS rubber.
Interior
Sliding into the front two tone blue vinyl split bench, I feel a
little giddy, like I'm getting ready to go into my sales man's
office at the dealer and start twisting his arm. Yes, it's that
nice! Door panels are good, dash is pristine, and all is correct.
So correct I harken back to when my father owned one of these
beautiful cars, and would let me sit behind the wheel and turn the
key to get her running. That speedometer style is burned into my
mind as typical Chevrolet from the mid 1960's. AM radio? Check! Air
Conditioning? Check! All very nice with just a few chips on the
shiny surrounding molding of the dash. Dark blue carpet floods the
floor and is topped and protected by Impala rubber mats.
Drivetrain
Gazing at the 350ci mill with HEI Ignition, Edelbrock Performer
Intake, a 600CFM Holly Carburetor, and ceramic coated long tube
headers, one can feel the performance on this cruiser. A Turbo 350
3-speed automatic transmission is attached to the rear.
Undercarriage
Slight surface rust is seen on the underside, but really very
clean. Large pipe pristine exhaust snake their way back from the
ceramic headers, and end in a nice throaty growl. 55BC power front
disc brakes have been installed, and billet engine pulleys can be
seen with a glance upward from underneath.
A wonderful, turn key convertible cruiser that drips with mid '60's
style, and class. Small but important engine upgrades add to the
performance, and couple that with the condition of the exterior and
interior, and this car will have you seeing blue.
