Vehicle Description
Cadillac luxury 1980s style. An 8-track tape player is quaint
reminder that this car is almost 40 years old, so get those Bee
Gees and Rod Stewart 8-tracks out of the attic or look for them
again on e-bay, pop one in the deck, and settle in to the comfort
of a Coupe DeVille.
This car was designed and built when crisp clean body lines gave
cars like this Coupe DeVille a unique, substantial, and solid look.
Eventually, computers, aerodynamics, and fancy body forming
technology would melt all those crisp clean edges into generic
looking curves. Aero did start to work its way into this car too
though, with a lowered hood line than previous models while still
retaining its upright chrome grill and Cadillac crest perched
proudly on top leading the way. A big chrome bumper underlines it
and more chrome trims out the fender wells and rocker panels. This
beautiful shade of blue is called Steel Blue Metallic which still
has a nice shine to it and is topped by a Sapphire Blue vinyl top.
A tan pinstripe highlights the upper body line leading back to
vertical taillights that allow wide access to a sizable trunk with
another Cadillac crest and underlined by another chrome bumper.
Open the door and you will find classic Cadillac luxury trimmed in
Tan leather inside. The door panel sets the tone with wood grained
treatment surrounding a vertically pleated section holding a nice
big door pull. A long armrest is comfortable on long cruises and
places the power window, locks, and mirror switches right at your
fingertips. The seats are comfortable and have a fold down armrest
between them which offers the option of having a 3rd passenger up
front, or of having your significant other slide over close for the
ride. A two-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column also has
wood grain accents and sits in front of a dashboard that looks
really sharp trimmed almost entirely in wood. That classic 8-track
player sits in the center just under the air conditioning vents and
over the climate control panel. Your back-seat passengers will also
be riding in style, so go ahead, load up and head out on a road
trip!
Under the hood you will find a 6.0-liter V8 engine. A bit of
trivia. Later in 1980 production, a V6 engine was offered. It was
the first time Cadillac had offered an engine with less than
8-cylinders since 1914! So, this car, with this engine, was the end
of an era. It is completely stock with a black snorkel air cleaner
sitting on top of a Rochester Quadra-Jet 4-barrel carburetor
feeding factory intake and heads. Signs of good regular maintenance
include a Harrison A/C compressor with newer lines, updated
ignition components like cap, wires and plugs, as well as new
belts, hoses and battery. Power flows back through a 3-speed
automatic transmission to the rear wheels. Cadillac ride quality is
assured with coil springs all around with a sway bar up front to
assure good handling too. Power steering makes for easy maneuvering
in parking lots and power front disc brakes provide good stopping
power. The car sits on 215/75R15 white wall tires with polished hub
caps with a Cadillac crest in the center.

you have an 8-track tape, bring it with you.
