Vehicle Description
Buick has always been good at building personal luxury cars. They
have always been powerful, comfortable, good looking cars. This one
was found with less than 25,000 miles on it, so here is your chance
to buy a low mileage, classic, personal luxury car. Check it
out.
This car is presented in Mediterranean Blue with a White vinyl top
and white pinstripes. It starts up front with a long hood that
carries a resemblance to one of its well-regarded GM stable mates,
but which cuts back with a distinctive angled grill. That grill has
vertical chrome bars flanked by quad headlights and is underlined
by broad chrome bumper. A white pin stripe runs down the length of
the car, tapering down as it blends in with the distinctive line of
the trunk. Riviera GS appears on the front fenders and the fixed
Opera window for the back-seat passengers creates a "Colonnade"
treatment. Buick has been first to the market with many luxury as
well as safety features through the years, and on this car, that
was the two high mounted taillights that would become federally
mandated some time later. As would be expected in this car, the
space under that trunk lid is substantial with plenty of room for
golf clubs or luggage.
Open the door and you will be invited in to the lap of luxury
dressed in Cream, Blue and Wood. The door panel has a wood grained
panel with a door pull along the top and a long, comfortable
armrest with power window switches at your fingertips. A
three-spoke steering wheel with a stylized R in the center is
mounted on a tilt column with cruise control along with the shifter
for the automatic transmission. Behind it is a nice wood grained
dashboard with a rectangular speedometer in the center. Controls
for the lights and ventilation system are off on the left, and to
the right side is an FM radio with A/C vents and controls mounted
under the dash. Settle in to the buttoned and pleated cream-colored
seats with a fold down armrest between them, and you will be so
comfortable that you won't be in a rush to get anywhere in
particular.
Although you could be in a rush if you wanted to be. Because when
you pop the hood, you will find a powerful 455 cubic inch motor
nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A flat black air
topper proudly announces that it is a Buick 455-4. Below that is a
Holley 4-barrel carb that feeds a stock intake and cylinder heads.
There is a newer brake booster and master cylinder as well as newer
alternator, A/C compressor and condenser. Signs of good regular
maintenance also include recent tune up parts as well as new belts
and hoses. Power flows back through a 3-speed transmission to the
rear wheels. Coil springs all around provide a nice ride and good
handling and front disc brakes insure that you can haul this car
down from highway speeds in a hurry if you need to. 235/75/R15
white wall tires are mounted on 5-lug polished wheels with Buick
Motor Division center caps.
A low mileage, Buick personal luxury car. This was the way to do it
right back in the '70s. Come on down and take a ride and see for
yourself.
