For Sale: 1941 Packard 160 in Bedford, Ohio

Vehicle Description

The 160 Series was the flagship in 1941. This handsome convertible coupe weighs nearly 4,000 pounds. The car was leaner than before but the engine was a newly revised eight cylinder, 356 cubic inch engine with 6.45:1 compression and aluminum pistons.  At 160 horsepower with hydraulic valve lifters, this car, with its column shift transmission was a powerful machine with a silent, smooth operation.

This desirable 160 Packard ceased production for the 1942 model year. The 1941 Packard 160 convertible coupe’s body was built by Packard and benefitted from the modern sleeker look as the headlamps were moved to the fenders. This 160 is a full Classic as denoted by the CCCA and is a welcome contender at any national event or CARavan. It is a solid original car. Gaps are tight and flawless. The enamel paint is starting to crack as it was painted in the 60’s. The red interior is in very nice condition, with no creasing or tears. The optional sidemounts have mirrors on each side for good rear visibility. Running boards are non existent for sleaker look. The dash plastic is in good condition and gauges are clear. The 356 cubic inch engine starts effortlessly thanks to its added electric fuel pump. Motoring at its finest, This Packard is the ultimate tour car for any CCCA CARavan and cruises effortlessly at 70 mph with its factory overdrive.

The Packard was owned for over 40 years by its last owner who drove it occasionally on nice days and every year in the annual homecoming parade in St. Michaels, Maryland. The 78,000 miles are believed to be original. The service sticker is still attached to the front door post showing that its oil was changed at the local Packard dealer. The original body tag is still in place under the hood on the cowl showing it was deliered in November, 1940 to the Packard dealer in Battle Creek Michigan. If the new owner desires… A new set of 16” steel rims are available!
