Vehicle Description
1940 Ford Deluxe
With its wind-swept design and classic good looks, Ford's DeLuxe
series has always been a rare and highly desirable line of cars.
Not surprisingly, gearheads, customizers and 80 years' worth of
dedicated fans have elevated it to one of hot rodding's greatest
cultural icons.
This completely restored inside and out with a new engine Deluxe
retains much of its original look and line, but with many upgrades
and customizations. Because of its color, it could be categorized
as a street rod. However due to the mostly original look exterior -
wise, I'd call it an original looking sedan with plenty of bling.
Either way, all the work has been done, you just need to turn the
key and drive away!
Exterior
Screaming yellow drapes this entire car, and presents in good
condition. Newly restored running boards connect beautiful curving
fenders. To accentuate the hood and the fender shape, 2 pinstripes,
one brown the other maroon, cut through the lower part of the car
from front to rear, and allow your eye to take a break from the
yellow. Allowing your eye to wander to the front, a beautiful art
nouveau inspired grille curves many ways and creates the iconic
look for the Deluxe. In fender headlights, with turn indicators
imbedded on top, keep the clean aerodynamic look. A downward
swooping rear roof that melts right into the trunk lid has a split
oval glass atop, and the trunk lid that curves its way to the
simple arched bumper. The beautiful thing about this car is the use
of curves, as there is truly nary a straight line on this car.
Interior
Completely restored, and modernized, we see herringbone fabric in
gray, covering the two Cougar power buckets, and door panels. A
matching headliner covers the interior roof. The black metal dash
with a rectangular chromed instrument area, and white background
gauges. A power cowl vent switch, and Vintage air and heat allow
you to cruise year round. AM/FM Stereo with 10 CD capabilities will
keep you in tunes for the trip and more. Fronting the dash is a
LeCarra steering wheel.
Drivetrain
A lift of the hood reveals a clean engine bay with a '76 Chevy
350ci engine, within hides a Crane cam, and on top is fed by an
Edelbrock 600 CFM intake. A new Vega steering box, and Mallory
Unilite distributor are attached. Mill exhaling takes place through
Hooker Block Hugger Headers. Bolted on back is a '76 Chevy 350
automatic transmission with a shift kit.
Undercarriage
Viewing from underside reveals a very nicely restored frame,
floorpan, and side rails. Front disc brakes, with new shocks
upfront, and a new driveshaft works its way back and attached to
the '69 Camaro rear with a 2.72 ratio. Rear suspension is leaf
sprung with new shocks as well. All clean under here!
There's something to be said regarding a car that is an eye
catcher, reliable performer, and has creature comforts to boot.
This turn the key restoration of an almost 80 year old automobile,
and literally can be enjoyed throughout the entire year. Very nice
condition, and it not only screams to your ears, but also your
eyes.
