Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet 3100 Custom Pickup
1957 is an iconic year for Chevrolet as the Bel Air is one of the
most popular classics ever created. In the truck world that is no
different with the late 50s Chevys still being one of the most
popular classic Pickups on the road. The 57 was the last year for
the more open rounded grill style and still also feature the two
lines on the hood similar to the spears on a Bel Air. This 57 3100
is a very well built truck and is the big back window version which
is the more sought after and more rare designs. The truck has
undergone a full frame off build and was very tastefully done with
the perfect mix of original classic style with more modern reliable
upgrades. The body is very straight and coated in a dark Green
metallic that looks beautiful when you get it out in the sun. The
chrome is in excellent shape with a mirror like finish. Instead of
the standard rear bumper a custom roll pan was created that
incorporates after market taillights and 2 cut outs that tie into
the lines of the exhaust. A third brake light was also added just
above the bottom of the back window. The "Chevrolet" lettering on
the tailgate is painted in White which stands out nicely. Any
pickup guy will tell you one of the coolest features on these old
trucks is the bed. On modern vehicles they are always lined or
painted but back in this day they were done in wood panels and were
just as eye catching as the paint on the exterior. This one has
been entirely redone with Oak Wood and stainless steel. The truck
has a great stance with just a slight forward rake that looks
perfect. It rides on Rally wheels with 1936 Chevy hubcaps and
beauty rings which are a nice touch. The tires are brand new with
215/75 15 in front and 235/75 15 in back.
The truck is Chevy powered but has been redone with a crate 350 V8
motor, Turbo 350 transmission and 12 bolt rear end. That is a combo
that is not only extremely reliable but is very easy to work on
with tons of off the shelf parts available. The motor is nicely
dressed up with a lot of aftermarket billet and chrome components
including finned Holly valve covers with a matching finned air
cleaner, a chrome alternator and much more. It has a new GM AC
compressor, new serpentine system, new 100 amp alternator, and new
aluminum radiator. We have known the owner/builder for many years
and he knows these trucks in and out. He has built multiple high
end show trucks that have won many awards and been featured in
magazines. Everything we have ever sold for him is very high
quality and shows in areas like the engine compartment where
everything is tight and tidy. The suspension was completely gone
through as well with all new shocks, new suspension bushings and
new tubular upper control arms. Disc brakes were also added up
front and it has a new master cylinder with power brake booster. It
also has power steering with a new steering box so the thing drives
like a dream.
The interior is custom throughout and was done by Shawn Cook who
has a great reputation for his interior work. At every high level
car show you go to there is a good chance one of those cars is
rolling around with his interior. It has a tan bench seat, door
panels and carpet. The headliner uses a lighter beige color to
frame a tan insert for a cool two tone look. The tilt column is
brand new and is topped with a 15 inch 1959 Impala steering wheel
which looks great. The dash is painted in the same Green metallic
as the exterior and utilizes the original gauge location to house
white face VDO gauges in a billet bezel. The New Old Air AC and
heating system is built into the dash as is the Kenwood AM/FM/CD
player.
This truck is a beautiful classic that is also built to be a great
driver. Whoever buys it will be winning trophies and driving
comfortable for many many years to come.
