Vehicle Description
This 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne is literally a rolling piece of
automotive history. Purpose built at the hands of a respected
professional a while back, it's been a fixture on the Texas
motorsports scene for quite some time and has even graced the pages
of Classic Trucks magazine. It proudly bears the exterior graphics
to commemorate its lineage and offers a great driving experience by
way of its fresh drivetrain and nice array of features.
A member of the final class of the C10's second generation, this
Cheyenne is a distinguished member of a group of trucks that helped
re-define just what a pickup should offer. It sports some nice
exterior modifications that capitalize on the style Chevy had
already baked into the equation - the billet front grille looming
over the black of the front end and the reshaped hood really make
it stand out in a crowd. The extensive array of graphics running
the lengths of the sides offers a visual tribute to the Good Guys
Lone Star Nationals show at the Texas Motor Speedway and still
makes a strong showing against the black background. A checkerboard
pattern lying just underneath the hand painted flames and lettering
gives the back end of this pickup an almost 3D effect. In addition
to its substantial visual impact, this is a nicely finished classic
truck in the more traditional sense, too - it's arrow-straight,
with a cab that blends well with its bed area, the trim surrounding
its windows is nice and clean and the other exterior fittings also
make a strong showing.
The interior has been re-imagined while still staying true to the
styling sensibilities that made Chevy's Action Line such a hit in
its heyday. The upholstery work on display here is really
impressive - the black leather buckets inside feature houndstooth
check cloth inserts that still look fresh and snugly-fitted and
their pattern is matched by the door panels to each side. The
interior also offers a tilt column, cruise control, air
conditioning (needs servicing) and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo with
multi-disc changer that teams with an amp and subwoofers mounted
behind the seat to provide a great audio experience. The dash area
is a definite strong suit, with a collection of factory gauges
sitting in the instrument cluster against a clean black steel
surface with a fresh dash pad running the width of the cabin. A
center console sits between the buckets, offering storage space and
a pair of cupholders. In back, the bed area is well protected by
both a fiberglass tonneau cover and a rubber bed liner, so it's in
good condition.
Abundant power comes from the 350 cubic inch V8 sitting just
underneath the hood. The engine wears an Edelbrock intake manifold
and 4-barrel carb under a very sharp chrome air cleaner and is
running strong and sounding great through its Dynomax mufflers as
it teams with a 3-speed automatic transmission that's also in good
form. In all respects, this truck is in rock solid, road ready
shape, with power brakes that feature discs up front for fade
resistant stops and power steering to make this eye catching
classic easy to navigate as it pulls focus on its set of 15"
Halibrand wheels outfitted with 275/60R15 radial tires tires that
have plenty of miles left in them.
