Our 1990 Esprit SE (X180) is a true survivor car. Fresh from a

A Brief History:
Restyled by Peter Stevens the X180 is a modern, less angular,
softer Esprit. The Special Equipment (SE) model also received side
skirts with active brake cooling ducts, A new air dam with
integrated fog lamps and cooling ducts, Revised exterior mirrors,
and a rear wing. The changes were not only to the exterior.
Interior changes include more room for the occupants and a revised
center console, An uograded audio system, Heat, Ventilation and A/C
got upgrades also. Body Panels were produced using a new process
patented by LOTUS called VARI (Vacuum Assisted Resin Injection).
Kevlar was also added to the roof panels giving the Esprit greater
rollover safety. A center removable roof panel is standard. The
process also increased production quality and torsional rigidity by
22%.
Enhancements to the drivetrain include: Type 910S Turbocharged 4
Cylinder Engine is mated to a UN-1 5 Speed Transaxle supplied by
Renault, Revised rear brakes are outboard, Lotus/Delco multi-point
fuel injection (MPFI) system replaces the old Bosch System.
Chargecooler air-water-air intercooler. Power output was increased
to 264 hp with 280 hp available on overboost. 0-60 mph acceleration
times are 4.7 seconds and the top speed is in excess of 160
mph.
It has been said that the SE cars are the best blend of 4 cylinder
reliability and light weight handling incorporating V8
styling.
