Vehicle Description
This 1949 Ford F1 Restomod is just a flat awesome truck. It's
outfitted for maximum curb appeal and, with some great modern
upgrades added to the mix, provides an outstanding driving
experience as well. Plus, it's logged just 8,000 miles since its
build, so it holds the promise of many future fun-filled miles for
its next lucky owner.
It's pretty hard not to stare when this F1 comes into view. Already
a sharp looking pickup in original form when it came out, in its
current configuration, it's an absolute winner - modified enough to
stand out from any crowd of vintage trucks, but still undeniably
tasteful in all respects. The bright red paint draped over its
exterior looks great, with a smooth texture and a strong, wet
looking shine that really comes alive in the sunlight. Take a
closer look and you'll appreciate just how skillfully its array of
modifications were done - the position of the tires beneath those
flaring fenders in both front and back looks great and the top bed
rails have been capped seamlessly. Trucks of this era sported quite
a collection of chrome on their exteriors and the array here is in
consistently strong condition - the bumpers both fore and aft, as
well as the brightwork everywhere you look, all appears to have
been added fairly recently and is in great shape.
There's no letup to the quality and craftsmanship as you climb
inside. The saddle colored seating, carpeting and headliner look
great against the backdrop of the red steel inside the cabin, and
there are more nice details on hand to both up the looks quotient
and make for comfortable driving in everyday situations. The bucket
seats are in great condition and straddle a center console that
offers both additional storage space and a pair of convenient
cupholders. The dash area is another high-water mark - the design
and installation of the chrome instrument panel, air conditioning
vents and control switches is top notch. Recessed inside the
instrument panel is a collection of Classic Instruments gauges that
are looking their best through their ultra-clear lenses. There's
plenty of comfort on hand, as well. In addition to the abundance of
room inside the cabin, a Classic Air climate control system stands
by to keep the temperature just right, the steering column tilts
into perfect position and the Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo also offers
iPod connectivity. In back, the bed seams have been precisely
welded before being painted and the wood lining the floor was
recently refinished.
The driving experience this F1 offers is very much on a par with
its killer aesthetics. A 350 cubic inch V8 sits in an engine
compartment that has to be seen to be appreciated - its newly
installed wiring is nicely hidden and the air cleaner enclosure and
master cylinder have been painted the same red as the inner
fenders, firewall and exterior for a museum-worthy look. The engine
has only logged about 5500 miles itself since its rebuild, it
features an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and intake, and is in top form
-sounding great through its Flowmaster exhaust as it teams with a
4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission that's well suited to frequent
driving. This Ford sits on a custom frame, so it not only features
tubular control arms up front, but also power rack and pinion
steering for a more precise driving feel while power brakes bring
low-effort stops. This impressively equipped and modded truck rolls
on a set of 15" wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/As.
