Fitted with the largest remaining big block American V8, this Mark
V Continental's 460 cu in (7.5L) 4V engine was now relegated to an
option, rather than being the standard powerplant. The large engine
necessitated the long hood, which carried the body lines into the
low roofline and terminating at the corners of the short rear deck
- accentuating the car's regal appearance. Other design cues that
made their debut with the Mark V included a new grille, concealed
dual headlamps, functional louvers behind the front wheels, opera
windows, and vertically-oriented tail lamps. The standard options
for the Continental were extensive and are as follows: Select-Shift
automatic transmission, power brakes front disc/rear drum, power
steering, power windows, automatic temperature control air
conditioning, cornering lamps, Cartier-signed digital timepiece,
Deluxe wheel covers, AM/FM radio with power antenna, cut-pile
carpeting, trip odometer, two-spoke steering wheel, Deluxe
color-keyed seat and shoulder belts, parking brake with automatic
release, door closing assist straps, ash tray, courtesy lights
located on the front door, rear pillar, glovebox, trunk, and under
dash, headlamps-on warning buzzer, and automatic seat back release.
Town variants received additional options such as coach lamps,
power vent windows, six-way power seats, leather seating surfaces
with the "loose pillow" look, carpeted luggage compartment and
spare tire cover, unique quarter and upper door trim panels, as
well as Town script. Special options for this particular Town Coupe
include: Dove Grey Valino Coach vinyl roof, dark red custom paint
stripes, Dove Grey bodyside moldings, 230x15 radial white sidewall
tires, front license plate bracket, Headlamp Convenience Group -
automatic headlamp dimmer and Autolamp on/off delay system,
Defroster Group - electric rear window defroster and heated outside
remote control LH mirror, Lock Convenience Group - power door locks
and remote deck-lid release, Twin Comfort Lounge Seats plus
passenger recline, Speed (Cruise) Control, tilt steering wheel,
AM/FM stereo radio, interval windshield wipers, Appearance
Protection Group, right hand remote control side mirror, Lock
Convenience Group - power door locks and remote deck-lid release.
It is believed a CEO owned this car originally before selling it to
an employee who kept it garaged for about 25 years. The 5-digit
odometer reads: "61716". This vehicle has been Ziebart rustproof
protected and even has the last oil change sticker. An original
1977 Lincoln Continental Owner's Guide, as well as the 1977 Lincoln
Continental options book and a Deluxe Marti Report is available.
