A Hollywood icon, Ginger Rogers is perhaps best remembered for
being Fred Astaire's beautiful dancing partner in 10 different
films, including the classics Swing Time and Top Hat. Her
illustrious career spanned several decades in which she appeared in
73 films, winning an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1940 for her
role in Kitty Foyle. Her acting was well received by critics and
audiences, and she became one of the biggest box-office draws of
the 1940s.
There was little comparison between her glamorous image on screen
and her modest, unpretentious home life. Ginger owned the
1,000-acre "Rogue River Ranch" near Eagle Point, Oregon, from 1940
to 1990. There she escaped fast-paced Hollywood, fishing as well as
entertaining some of Hollywood's brightest stars. The ranch was a
working dairy for many years and supplied milk to Camp White in
Southern Oregon during World War II. Always a private person,
Rogers sought out Oregon to put distance between her public persona
and her private life. That unpretentiousness is reflected in her
choice of the automobile she selected to purchase new and use at
her Ranch, this 1975 Dodge Coronet station wagon.
This well-preserved original wagon still retains its original
Golden Fawn paint finish and its 400-cu. in. V-8 engine backed by a
TorqueFlite automatic transmission that continues to drive well.
Optional equipment includes factory air-conditioning, power
tailgate window, roof rack, AM radio, side moldings, and white
sidewall tires. Accompanying the car is the original window
sticker, owner's manual, shop manual and booklets, as well as
registration card and service receipts in Ginger Rogers' name,
proving her ownership of the car.
From Broadway to Hollywood, this is the perfect wagon to fly under
the radar. To view this car and others currently consigned to this
