For Sale: 1966 Datsun 1600 in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Presenting a beautiful 1966 Datsun Fairlady 1600 Roadster that is a true pleasure to enjoy.  The Datsun Fairlady 1600 Roadster was produced from January 1965 to April 1970.  Many changes were made for 1965. Though the 1.5 L SP310 continued in production through January, a new 1.6 L R16-powered SP311 and SPL311 joined it. The restyling was executed in part by Count Albrecht Goertz, who would later be involved with designing the first Fairlady- Z.   Marketed as the Fairlady 1600, or the Datsun Sports 1600 in many export markets including North America, it featured 14 inch wheels and minor exterior changes. The SPL311 was also known in the United States, on the West Coast, as the “Roadster”. The front suspension was independent, utilizing coil springs over hydraulic shocks. Rear suspension was a common leaf springs design, dampened with hydraulic shocks. The 1600 SPL311 came with a pair of SU carburetors. The engine produced 95 hp. The R16 is an in-line four cylinder OHV engine.  This car was the product of a complete restoration with custom touches throughout.  It was restored to be a high quality driver.  The exterior body is overall nice and the red paint grabs your attention.  All of the glass, trim, chrome and emblems are also in nice condition.  The car sits on BF Goodrich Touring T/A 175-65-14 tires.  The black interior complements the exterior perfectly.  It’s dressed with custom upholstered door panels, seats and console.  A custom sound system was also added.  The carpeted trunk compartment is neatly organized and home to the spare tire with matching tire cover.  The painted engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout.  Its home to the original matching numbers 1.6L 4 cyl that runs excellent.  The engine is coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission that shifts very smoothly.  The undercarriage was cleaned and undercoated during the restoration.  The car is equipped with a rare hard top which is included.  The soft top and pieces are also included but not installed because they need restoring.  These cars are hard to find in restored condition.  Although this is not a high end show car it’s one of the best examples currently on the market for sale.  This is a great opportunity as prices are on the rise.  This vehicle has been serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.
