Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet Impala Convertible
The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size car built by Chevrolet for
model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and since 2000 onwards. The
Impala was Chevrolet's most expensive passenger model through 1965
and had become the best-selling automobile in the United
States.
Offered for consignment this 2 owner Impala was purchased from a
dealership new in 1970. The first owner continued to have the car
serviced by the same mechanic, at the same dealership for as long
as they owned the car. When it came time to sell, the original
owner wanted the mechanic who worked on the car for all the years,
to own the car, so said mechanic purchased it from the original
owner. This car has been continually owned by this mechanic since
this time, and is now offered here at Classic Auto Mall
Exterior
A repaint of Gobi Beige to match the original has been applied.
Otherwise the car presents original, with working and very clean
black canvas top, electrically operated, as well as original chrome
and badging. True to 1970's design change, 3 vertical tail lights
are imbedded into the rear bumper. Wrap around bumpers are seen on
the front. Flipping the trunk lid we behold a very clean lined
trunk with a spare and jack as it came from the dealership.
Interior
Front split bench vinyl seats, as well as a rear bench are in
excellent original condition, and sport medium saddle coloring as
per the build plate code. Gold carpeting in nice condition flood
the floor. Matching tufted and buttoned door panels in medium
saddle adorn both sides, and a dark brown color wraps the dash. The
instrument panel sits in front of the iconic Chevrolet steering
wheel, with odometer showing 88,000 miles as consigner stated.
Being only the second owner of this car, and working on it since it
left the dealership, one would be inclined to say these are actual
miles. A AM/FM radio, power steering, and power brakes, as well as
a tilt steering wheel have been added as dealer options.
Drivetrain
The original 454ci V8 with a single 4-barrel carburetor atop, is
nestled into the engine bay. A THM400 transmission is attached to
the rear of this original power plant, and shifts smoothly, and
efficiently. An underside visual scan of the car reveals nothing
remarkable, and shows typical of a garaged, well maintained classic
vehicle.
A truly original car owned by just 2 people since its drive away
from the dealership. Some new paint, and a well-maintained life
within a garage, this car presents very nicely. The matching medium
saddle convertible cover is in good condition, although is a bit
stiff from age. Best of all it is a convertible, so you can enjoy
the great outdoors while taking in a lazy Sunday drive.
