Vehicle Description
Why This Car Is Special
Out of over 211,000 Firebirds produced in 1979, less than 10% were
Formulas. On top of that, this car has under 75,000 actual miles!
It is a time capsule.
Mechanical
This Firebird Formula is powered by the Pontiac 301 CID V8 that is
backed by a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. This car has power
steering and power brakes and drives great. It takes you right back
to 1979. Front disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power for
this long and low muscle car.
Interior
Camel vinyl interior is a classy look, but the high back bucket
seats let you know this is a muscle car. The center console and
aluminum accent on the dash really make this interior pop. The dash
is unlike any other car with big gauges surrounded by an aluminum
piece that runs down 2/3 of the dash and is polished in a pattern
that makes it look like it's sparkling. The steering wheel is as
sporty as they come and a new CD player has been installed in the
dash. To the right of the steering wheel you have controls for heat
and A/C. This Formula is an A/C car and it has been updated.
Exterior
The 1979 was a new look for the Firebird and Trans Am with a new
front end. It also marked the 10th anniversary for the Trans Am,
and had an anniversary model to celebrate. This Formula has classic
Rally wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra radial raised white letter
tires. A special hood and "Formula" graphics down the rocker
panels. The view from the back is as good as they come. A big
spoiler, one big taillight panel that looks very futuristic for a
1979, dual exhaust tips aimed almost straight down like a 69 Trans
Am and the word "Formula" to set it all off.
Conclusion
This low mileage collectible has a great look and would make a
great first classic car, or an addition to a current
collection.
