1930 Ford Coupe - Street Rodder Top 10
When you taste champagne, you're usually celebrating something.
Well, this car is definitely worthy of celebration! Builder/owner
coined "Champagne Taste" is a super cool 1930 Ford Coupe. In 2011,
this car won Top 10 at the Syracuse Nationals and also graced the
cover of Street Rodder Magazine for their December 2011 issue with
6 additional pages inside. It also has won multiple awards at the
Detroit Autorama and was honored a Top 100 Car of the Year.
Magazines in Europe have featured the car as well. Our local client
and nationally known car guy, built this car as a tribute to the
1960's Show Rod era. The car has primarily been used only for major
auto shows. It was chosen to be on display at the Gilmore Car
Museum for a Hot Rod display with other known builders, such as
Barris, Winfield, Mike Alexander, and Alya Brothers. These builders
also signed the passenger seat of the car along with other
legendary car people, such as Norm Grabowski.
With our clients design, the car was built by Gas Axe Garage, a
multi-award winning shop, of Wyoming, MI. The car is powered by a
rebuilt Chevy 283 bored to a 292 V8 motor with a Comp Cam, two Ford
94 Carbs, and a Mallory Distributor. Transmission is a Firebird
5-Speed with an 8-ball shifter. Other upgrades include a Ford Banjo
rear end, new Vega style steering box, Buick finned brakes,
modified Model A frame with new suspension components. The car
started off with a clean 1930 Ford Coupe body. It was chopped and
channelled four inches, making the interior rather cozy. A 1951
Ford dash was chiseled to fit with 1953 Buick gauges while a
one-off cast aluminum 1940 Ford-styled steering wheel sets the
course. The exterior was painted Candy Gold Pearl with all graphics
and pin stripping professionally hand painted. It is a
one-of-a-kind build that turns heads wherever it goes. You won't
find another one like it.
This acclaimed Hot Rod was finished in 2011, collected many top
awards, and has never been offered for sale until now. It is highly
recognizable and well received car. It has been driven on a limited
basis but is currently licensed for street use. Lights and signals
function as they should. Included with the sale is a brand new and
never worn Street Rodder Top 10 Jacket, size Large. This is an
incredible vehicle with a decorated trophy cabinet and is now ready
for new garage. You are guaranteed to bring home more trophies with
this special car. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on
