Vehicle Description
I can make a strong argument that this is the best 1966 Chevy truck
in the country. The combination of quality and features are
unbeatable. The body off frame restoration is off the charts nice.
Only 159 miles since completed. The options are amazing- factory
a/c, power steering and brakes, 327 motor with auto trans and more.
Remember unlike today, trucks were just looked at as work horses
and rarely ordered with any options. This truck has them all! We
just acquired a thick binder of the restoration receipts and a
binder of restoration pics.
EXTERIOR: It's probably better than it was when it left the factory
because the paint jobs were not this smooth. The body is absolutely
straight, there's no signs of any rust or damage. Every single
piece of trim is new. Upfront has the optional chrome grill and
bumper (new) the turn signals are new. All the optional side
moldings, mirrors, antenna, door handles are new. In back it has
the optional chrome bumper which is new, optional reverse lights
are new, the tail lights and latches are new. The windshield has
been replaced, the gaskets around all the windows are new. Inside
the door jambs are painted, bottom of the doors are spotless, sill
plates are new, latches are detailed, weather strips are new. The
rims have been painted to match the truck, caps and optional trim
rings are highly polished chrome. Tires are upgraded to radials.
Inside the bed is finished with the same quality as the exterior,
there is no dents, damage or scrapes. It's all painted beautifully.
New wood floor refinished in a dark stain. Powder coated black
metal strips are held in with stainless hardware. The pics show
this truck taken down to a bare metal shell.
INTERIOR: The rare factory air conditioning was built right into
the dash and that meant the ashtray had to be relocated below the
dash. During my research I read that these ashtrays are
unattainable if missing, this truck has it. Also under the dash is
the optional emergency flashers. It has the in dash optional
tachometer and gauges too. The radio is upgraded to a modern retro
stereo and there are upgraded seatbelts. The condition inside the
truck is like brand new. The whole inside of the cab was painted.
The seat was recushioned and reupholstered in the correct material.
The dash area is all restored- the knobs, lenses, gauges, steering
wheel all look brand new. It has the original rubber floor mat. The
mirror, visors, handles, armrests are new. I even looked underneath
the seat and the bottom side is all painted gloss black. The heater
box is all restored. It's like new inside this truck. Everything is
new-Horn button retainer, turn signal switch and lever, glove box
light assembly. The list goes on, everything is new!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Most were 6 cylinders, some were 283s with 2
barrel carb, this has an original 327 with a 4 barrel carb. First
year the 327 was available. The motor compartment is detailed like
a model car. With only 159 miles it hasn't even had a chance to get
dirty. All the metal is smooth as a chalk board and has satin
finish black paint. The firewall is gloss red. The motor has a
clean coat of the correct aqua color. All the components look new,
everything has it's proper finishes. The fan shroud has it's raw
fiberglass finish, the heater box is detailed. It is 100% like
factory, no aftermarket changes. The upper radiator hose is the
correct metal tube, the decals on the valve covers are correct for
a truck. After reading the receipts I realize everything under the
hood is new from hood springs to spark plug shields to restored
carb. Every single part is new or restored.
UNDERSIDE: It is still new under this truck. Even the oil pan and
inside of the rims are still spotless. The steering and suspension
is completely rebuilt front and back. New correct exhaust, new
shocks, fuel lines, brake lines, brakes, starter, bushings, e-brake
cables, wiring etc. The transmission was upgraded to a 700R-4
overdrive automatic. The pics show the bottom stripped to bare
metal-zero rust. Every part is new or restored-steering box,
springs, pinion seal, tie rod, everything! Pull the brake drum,
even inside the brakes are new and detailed.
I just read the receipts. First of all this restorer is super
meticulous. Every receipt is in it's own plastic sleeve in a
binder. You do not realize how much goes into a restoration of this
quality until you read the receipts. Every little clip, screw and
clamp. All new wiring. Not only a new gas tank but also the straps,
sending unit and insulation pad. Every single grommet, window seal
and gasket is new. The window regulators are new. If you could go
back in time and order the best 1966 C-10 this would be it. Well,
you don't need a time machine, we have the holy grail available for
you right here, right now!
