Mopar's commitment to professional motorsports competition was
established in the 1950s resulting in the breaking of numerous
speed and performance barriers in HEMI powered vehicles during the
next several decades. Over the years a variety of Mopar package
cars contributed to building the brand's reputation at the drag
strip. For 2015 Mopar continues this proud tradition by introducing
the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak -- a race-prepped version of Dodge's
two-door muscle car built specifically for drag racing. Mopar pays
homage to the original Gen 1 Hemi V8 engines with the
354-cubic-inch displacement. To withstand racing duties, and the
boost from the supercharger, the 354 Hemi V8 features a cast-iron
block, forged steel crankshaft, Mopar-spec camshaft, and a custom
engine calibration. The car boasts a Chrysler-based 727 automatic
transmission, a race-style stick shifter with integral line lock,
and an aluminum driveshaft. The vehicle also is equipped with a
weight box and 12-volt battery mounted in the trunk as well as a
full roll cage fabricated to NHRA specifications. The vehicle's
front suspension sports a Mopar K-Member with strut suspension
geometry -- front struts with adjustable compression and rebound.
At the back of the car, racers will find a four-link rear
suspension with panhard bar, rear solid axle with 9-inch aluminum
third member, adjustable rear shocks and an anti-sway bar. The
Challenger Drag Pak is equipped with 15-inch front and rear wheels,
28-inch diameter drag style front tires (4.5 inches wide) and
30-inch diameter rear tires (9-inches wide) and features precision
performance front and rear brake rotors, calipers and master
cylinder. The interior is based on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT
interior with the addition of Mopar gauges, driver and passenger
lightweight racing seats, along with safety nets and five-point
harnesses. While official power ratings were not supplied by Mopar
it is believed the Drag Pak Challengers make north of 1,000
horsepower with quarter-mile times in the 8s'. This never-used Drag
Pak Challenger is in brand-new condition and ready to be enjoyed.
