Vehicle Description
GMC released a limited production example of a high-performance
variant of the Jimmy which was aptly named the Typhoon and was
produced alongside its counterpart, the Syclone, from 1992-1993.
Both models featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8 Turbocharger and a
Garrett water and air-cooler which was attached to a 4.3L V6. This
combination of performance parts would get the Typhoon pushing 60
mph in 5.7 seconds and a quarter mile in 14.5 seconds straight from
the factory. When Car and Driver reviewed the Syclone which had the
same engine they favorably compared it to the likes of the Ferrari
348ts, a Corvette and even the 300ZX Turbo. With the Typhoon coming
out with an initial sticker just under $30,000, this vehicle gave a
lot of bang for its buck.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this one-owner and unmolested
example of the 1992 GMC Typhoon for your consideration. The SUV was
purchased new at DeNooyer Chevrolet in Holland, MI. Aside from
routine maintenance, nothing much has been done to the Typhoon as
it needed nothing. Highlights include 16 inch aluminum wheels,
spare tire, center console, front bucket seats, tilt wheel, air
conditioning, AM/FM/CD player, owner's manuals and books, power
windows, power locks, factory tachometer, power mirrors, rear wiper
and defrost, power brakes and power steering.
