The Mercedes-Benz SL series started out as the top of the line
sports luxury tourer that offered both performance and comfort. The
third generation SL was called the R107 chassis and is one of the
most recognizable Mercedes of all time. Produced from 1971 all the
way to 1989, the R107 lived a long and cherished life. The United
States was an extremely popular market for the personal luxury
coupe and almost ? of all SL's were sold here. While not as quick
or pretty as their European cousins, the US market SL's still
represented the cream of the personal luxury car crop. The 380SL
was an entry-level model that offered an excellent blend of both
efficiency and V8 performance.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this lovely 1984 380SL for
your consideration. This well documented car is finished in a
beautiful Light Ivory. The paint is very nice overall, and the body
is nice and straight. Large US market bumpers are clean as is the
rest of the rubber and chrome trim. The car rides on 14in "Bundt"
light alloy wheels that have newer tires. The tan Palomino interior
is very nice, there is a bit of normal wear, but is very nice
overall. The car features the original Becker radio, climate
control, power windows, power antenna, burl wood trim, rear seats,
and premium Coco floor mats.
The 3.8L V8 is an excellent runner and the car has been very well
taken care of since new. The 4-speed automatic transmission is
smooth and unobtrusive and the car goes down the road very well.
This is an excellent example of a lovely classic roadster.
