There is a group of you - and you know who you are - who look
beyond the late 60s and 1970 Detroit muscle - and find the 1980s
era vehicles as the last true American Muscle cars. This 1987
IROC-Z represents the ultimate 1980s American automotive time
capsule.
Starting with the original window sticker, this Z28 is all stock,
sans aftermarket wheels, and lowering springs. This third
generation Camaro is often relegated to the bench as its older
siblings take the spotlight. A departure from the traditional
F-body staple, the "third gen" brought design modernity to Chevy's
entry level performance model. Still under the original owner's
care, this Z has been driven sparingly and features one of the best
combos ever to grace a third gen - V8, 5-spd, T-tops, bright red
paint and a leather interior.
1985 saw the introduction of the Camaro IROC-Z, an acronym for
International Race of Champions Z28. The IROC-Z platform featured
an upgraded suspension, larger diameter sway bars, Delco-Bilstein
shocks, and the "wonder bar," essentially a strut tower brace for
the bottom of the car. The Z28 also featured a more aggressive
front fascia, a ground-hugging front air dam, and body color
ground-effects skirts with "IROC-Z" badging and striping.
This Camaro features the LB9 305ci V8 paired to a 5-speed manual
transmission. The 305ci V8 featured hydraulic roller lifters,
updated cylinder heads, and revised valve cover design. Enjoying a
red on red finish that would make even the quarterback jealous,
this Z28 features a unique two-tone brown leather over camel
interior. All interior amenities including power windows, mirrors,
door locks, and rear hatch release are original and function
beautifully. The factory heater and air-conditioning will keep you
comfortable in four seasons, complemented by both front and rear
window defroster.
With only 32,968 miles, this pony car has remarkably seen only one
owner since it left the factory. If you are of a mind for 1980s
Chevy muscle, this beauty is ready for you.
