Vehicle Description
It's not just that this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 makes a
great first impression, but with a thoughtful restoration, A/C
interior, and its original big block V8 still under the hood, it's
also a hardtop that the admiration grows more the longer you spend
with it.
You can instantly tell there was a lot of time, care, and money
invested in getting this car into this superior condition. The
re-application of the code-71 LeMans Blue means this car looks
correct but has an extra sparkle in the sunlight that can only come
from a professional respray with modern paint formulas. It does a
great job of showcasing the sheetmetal, which was particularly nice
in '69. The pointed front end with a hint of overhang; the sleek
fastback profile; and a hint of flying buttress in the rear that
extends all the way to the taillights - it's all part of one of
Chevy's most artful designs. The chrome on the Super Sport is a bit
more understated then on the standard Malibu, and so every piece of
brightwork needs to really shine to stand out. That's why it's good
to see everything from the big bumpers to the delicate trim around
the wheel arches receiving good investments. But as much as this
coupe goes for elegance, no one will mistake it for a pushover
thanks to the correct Super Sport badging, bright dual exhaust
tips, and Mag-style SS wheels.
Inside you see more attention to detail. The world of sporty and
comfort mix nicely as the aggressive black bucket seats retain a
comfortable button-top presentation. And there's enough room in
this Chevelle to enjoy with family and friends. They all even stay
comfortable with the factory AM/FM radio and cold-blowing air
conditioning. Of course, no matter how many people are coming
along, the driver is really the king. You get a bright center
console with the horseshoe shifter boldly in the middle. And the
dual-spoke SS steering wheel gives you an excellent view of all the
gauges. As you look across the interior, you get a sense of a very
correct classic. This one even still has the Astro Ventilation tag
next to the glovebox, which really tells you the level of detail in
the restoration.
Under the hood is a 396 cubic-inch big block V8 filling up the
engine bay. It's no surprise this one has all the details right
considering the level of quality on the interior and exterior. But
what you'll really love is that this is the original
numbers-matching motor on this real-deal SS 396. It's dressed with
fresh paint on the block, crisp hoses, and even the right decals.
It was also built to run with a Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor
and a sweet-sounding dual exhaust. But more than just hear those
pipes, take a look at the full path in the undercarriage pictures.
That way you can also take note of this Chevelle's exceptional
condition in places most people don't even see. But don't just use
this for a museum piece. With features like power steering, a
strong TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, and front disc
brakes, this SS 396 is a lot of fun on the road.
This is a fantastically presented coupe, and it also comes with the
right paperwork, including the factory buildsheet, original
warranty card, owner's manual, and build receipts. So if you love
an outstanding true muscle machine, don't let this one slip away,
call today!
