you're looking for a super cool cruiser that can be enjoyed for
years to come, it's the classic of your dreams!
DESIGNED FOR SEMA
Built to debut Speedtech Performance's Pro Touring C10 chassis at
SEMA, this incredible Chevy was assembled by Tom Argue Design of
Clearwater, Florida. Raised by a family of gearheads who made
components for OEM automakers, Tom Argue eventually founded a shop
dedicated to restoring classics and building street rods. And, with
this C10, his talented crew pretty much had carte blanche. The
build began with a new cab that was fitted with 1-piece side glass
and relieved of its drip rails. Behind that cab, the truck's bed
floor was raised four inches and fashioned around 3-inch widened
wheel tubs. Opposite that floor, smooth Slosh Tubz inner fenders
joined a smoothed firewall. And that solid profile was eventually
blanketed in Porsche Carrera White PPG that's dressed in satin
Tungsten accents and dashed with red pinstripes.
In addition to crisp pigment, the truck's handsomely square
proportions are lovingly highlighted with a roster of cool details.
At the front of its body, a custom splitter founds a custom valance
under a red bowtie, amber parking lamps and 7-inch Sylvania Zevo
headlights. Behind that grille, a "CHEVROLET" branded hood leads
the eye to a tinted greenhouse that's centered between Satin Black
wipers, polished bowtie mirrors and a modern 'shark fin' antenna.
At the sides of that glass, a wet-look profile has been shaved of
everything but traditional door handles and a billet fuel filler.
At the center of that that profile, a massaged aluminum tonneau,
supplied by LazerLite, shades stainless-trimmed Oak that's stained
to match the truck's Tungsten accents. And at the back of those
planks, a "CHEVROLET" branded tailgate floats amid a custom roll
pan and Marquez LED taillights.
CONNECT & CRUISE
Gaze upon this pickup's crisp engine bay and you'll find 6.2 liters
of divine GM small block. Officially known as the Chevrolet
Performance LS376/525, that trusty engine twists respectable 10.7
to 1 compression into 525 horsepower and 486 lb./ft. of torque! At
the top of the block, a remote K&N filter element feeds a
Porsche White air tube, which funnels wind in to a proven GM
throttle body that fronts a white-tinged GM intake. That air meets
spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which ride under Porsche
White, Chevrolet-branded valve covers. A nodular crank, powdered
connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile
union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency
through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, that smooth
valvetrain funnels spent gases through Speedtech Performance
headers. There's a proven PRC radiator that's slid between a
polished tank, a polished cap and dual SPAL puller fans. Vintage
Air Front Runner serpentine components spin an aluminum water pump
between a color-keyed alternator and a color-keyed AC compressor.
Everything communicates well thanks to Chevrolet Performance
Connect & Cruise electronics. And, as you likely deduced from our
high-resolution photos, the all-aluminum mill wears glossy Matador
Red skin that's complemented with niceties like relocated coils,
FAST fuel rails, trick dipsticks and quality MSD plug wires.
A TRUCK FOR THE TRACK
With that kind of power on tap, it should come as no surprise that
the bottom of this C10 features a host of noteworthy upgrades.
Everything starts with a sturdy Speedtech chassis that features
boxed and reinforced frame rails. Those bones ride a modern
Speedtech suspension, which follows tubular control arms and two
Viking coil-overs with a sturdy torque arm and two more Viking
coil-overs. Behind the sweet engine, a proven 4L65E 4-speed engages
a stout Ford 9-inch that's finished with 3.90 gears and 31-spline
axles. Stops are provided by Wilwood 6-piston calipers, which
squeeze drilled and slotted rotors. Modern power rack-and-pinion
steering provides good feel and great performance. Custom, 3-inch
exhaust plots a custom course through throaty Stainless Works
mufflers. And power meets the pavement through color-keyed
Forgeline MS3Cs, which spin 295/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
in front of 335/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
HOUNDSTOOTH FOR THE WIN!
Many folks say there's elegance in simplicity, and the inside of
this C10 certainly makes a case for that mindset. Wrapped in
Dynamat, lined in Katzkin and detailed in houndstooth, there's
enough contrast to keep the cockpit interesting without breaking
the limits of good taste. The star of the show is power-operated
buckets that were sourced from a 2008 Silverado. In front of those
seats, a stylish dash hangs modern telemetry next to buttons for
both the truck's transmission and ignition. Cruising is optimized
by modern air conditioning and Pioneer touchscreen audio, which
controls a 5-channel amp, a 10-inch subwoofer and 6.5-inch kick
speakers. Rich carpet looks great stretched between simple door
panels and metal foot pedals. And steering is channeled through a
flat-bottom Flaming River wheel, which spins Twist Machine paddle
shifters around a tilting Flaming River column.
If you're looking for a unique classic that mixes killer style with
plenty of right-foot fun, this Chevy deserves your full attention.
It's fast, it looks good and, most importantly, it's a quality
build that'll provide years of great memories.
