Professional body off the frame, rotisserie restoration to factory
specs or better. California rust free car loaded with desirable
accessories. Has build sheet, owner's manual and pictures of the
restoration. Same owner since the late 80s. He is a collector and
body man by trade, owning his own shop. He bought it because of the
exceptionally clean body and the long list of features. The car was
put in dry storage for about 20 years. About 5 years ago he finally
got around to pulling the car from storage and giving it a full
blown restoration. Only 1,393 miles since completed.
EXTERIOR: Striking, better than new appearance. It is absolutely
rust free, still has all of its original metal. We have the
pictures to verify that claim. The body was pulled off the frame
and put on a rotisserie. Every inch was stripped to bare metal. He
made a point to say what a pleasure it was working on such a clean
car. The body is straight and fits tight. The paint has a mirror
finish so deep, it looks like you could dive right in. The chrome
and trim has been restored. Bumpers align to the body just right,
has the little rubber fillers in place. The vinyl top is new, the
windshield and rear glass is new. All the stainless trim has been
replaced. The door jambs are painted and detailed. New
weatherstrips and window seals. It has a set of correct
reproduction redline tires with the SS1 chrome wheels. It even has
the correct T-3 headlights. Everything looks fabulous from the
grill to the tail panel.
INTERIOR: The red is stunning against the black exterior. It too is
restored to brand new quality, it is also optioned out. Not only
does it have a set of bucket seats, but they have the very rare
headrest option and the passenger side reclines. It also features
deluxe seat belts, rare factory tachometer, power windows, tilt
deluxe wheel and more. The seats have new cushions so the new
upholstery fits tight as a drum. New red headliner with matching
visors, passenger side has Oldsmobile vanity mirror. New door
panels with new armrests, the bases are sparkling chrome. Of course
new red carpets and has reproduction Oldsmobile floor mats. Factory
console has economy gauge and original Hurst shifter with 442 right
on it. The entire dash was sent out and completely restored, it's
beautiful.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is restored and detailed to factory specs.
The first thing you notice is the correct set of tri-power carbs.
They are restored with correct lids, foam filters and proper gas
lines. The #s match motor is rebuilt and painted the correct bronze
color. Sitting next to the motor is a factory air conditioning
system that's been restored and updated to R-134 freon. All the
components are restored and detailed. Wires, hoses are properly
run. Master cylinder is replaced, the brake booster is cadmium
plated. It has correct GM hoses, clamps, spring clamp battery
cables, Delco battery topper. The metal has smooth paint finishes.
Has the rubber flaps with correct clips, new hood insulation
etc.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is so clean all the metal is painted gloss
back. New plaid mat. The spare is also a redline on SS1 wheel. Has
restored jack. The proper decals are on the trunk lid.
UNDERSIDE: Again, it is rust free original metal. The chassis and
floors were stripped to bare metal, then refinished to look new.
Completely rebuilt suspension and steering. New shocks, brakes,
lines, fuel tank etc. New dual exhaust with correct crimped
tailpipes. Has the optional HD suspension which includes sway bars
and boxed rear control arms. Also has original 3.55 posi. 4-speed
was gone through, new clutch and linkage. Emergency brake cables
are hooked up.
This is one of the best 1966 442s in the country!
