Vehicle Description
1974 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
The Corvette has been an American icon since 1953. The C3 Corvettes
ran from 1968 to 1982 and underwent many changes in that time. The
1974 was the first year for no chrome bumper, the last year for
true dual exhaust and the last Corvette without a catalytic
converter.
Why This Car Is Special
This Corvette has the numbers matching 350 V8 engine under the hood
and runs fantastic. It has a great options list and a nice Pearl
White paintjob. Two tops add to the rarity and cool factor of this
collector Corvette.
Mechanical
The 350 is rated at 195 horsepower from the factory and has been
upgraded with an HEI distributor for a reliable spark. The engine
is clean and nicely painted in Chevrolet orange. A Turbo 400
automatic transmission backs up the V8 engine and shifts nice and
smooth. 4-wheel power disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power
for this Vette. Power options include power brakes, power steering,
power windows and A/C.
Interior
Black vinyl bucket seats are split by the factory center console
with shifter. A Retrosound AM/FM radio cranks out the classic rock
and you have your choice of hardtop, soft top, or no top at all!
The power windows are controlled by switches on the center console,
and there is plenty of storage behind the seats in these C3
Corvettes. The rear is carpeted with cubby holes which house the
battery, and anything else you need to carry with you. There is
also room enough for a suitcase or folding chairs for attending car
shows in your new classic.
Exterior
Classic White was the factory color for this Vette and it has been
repainted white, with a bit of pearl to bring it into the 21st
century. The black vinyl wrapped removable hardtop is a very rare
option with only 367 Corvettes receiving this treatment in 1974.
Rally wheels are wrapped with new radial tires and are a classic
muscle car wheel choice. A chrome luggage rack adorns the rear for
additional storage for longer trips. This car shows very well and
is sure to be the envy of your friends and neighbors.
Conclusion
The 1974 Corvette was the start of a new era for Corvette and these
74-82 Vettes are climbing in value every day. This car being
numbers matching and having some rare options makes it a must add
for any collector, or a great car to start your collection.
