This 1967 Dodge Dart Restomod is such an awesome build that it was
even the personal vehicle for the developer of the fuel injection
system. That means this was finished to a higher standard, because
it also needed to be a show car. So look over every inch -
including the undercarriage - and you'll see a clean professional
build with a monster under the hood.
This build comes from the people at SS and AFX in New River,
Arizona. Those who know classic Mopars also know they are obsessed
with getting it right when it comes to NHRA-style Darts. That means
starting with a full rotisserie restoration where every nut and
bolt is scrutinized. And you can instantly see that level of
quality on this example, especially with only been about 6,000
miles since completion. The sheetmetal has lines crisp enough to
cut glass; the body gaps are more exacting than from the factory;
and the big chrome bumpers nicely contour the Dart's unique shape.
This craftsmanship is all highlighted particularly well thanks to a
super-slick application of metallic blue borrowed from
Lamborghini's palette. And it has all the right speedy details,
like the orange sport stipe on the rear, and the 15-inch Center
Line polished aluminum wheels (with extra wide ones in the rear to
really show you where the power meets the road.) And those vertical
stacks are absolutely menacing poking out of the hood.
Your first impression of the interior might just be an expertly
restored back to stock. After all, the low-back bucket seats,
carpeting, door panels, and steering wheel all have a factory-fresh
look and feel. But then you start to notice how much of a racer
this really is. The back seat is removed for weight savings and to
allow wider wheels. Plus, the gauges have been replaced with a
Racepak Data Systems UDX module that provides a full information
package on the digital LCD display. And have you counted the number
of gears on the Hurst shifter yet?
You're going to love lifting the hood and showing off this monster
motor. After all, the smooth painted fender walls and firewall
funnel all your attention to this 6.1-liter Hemi V8. And have you
noticed that everything is finished in blue, orange, and chrome,
just like the exterior? So the engine bay can win you awards all on
its own. And those vertical stacks are the key to why this motor
looks so awesome. This coupe belongs to the owner of Imagine
Injection Co. It's a company that specializes in giving cars the
look of a race carb/intake arrangement, but it actually hides a
modern fuel-injected setup. And if this is the owner's car, you
know it was done right and to show-grade quality. So yes, the
classic setup is surrounded by a modern Mopar SRT motor. It growls
to life from the Dynomax dual exhaust. And if you really want to
make them fear you, just flip the switch on the dash for the
electric cutout, and then the thunder really rolls. You have
complete control over this fuel-injected Hemi and its raucous
soundtrack thanks to a Tremec TKO600 six-speed manual transmission.
This feeds a strong Strange rear end with 4.56 gears for powerful
take-offs. Keeping this beastly Dart under control is easy thanks
to the right component like a thick front sway bar, super stock
leaf springs in the rear, and Baer vented four-wheel disc
brakes.
Besides just winning awards for looks, this is a true drag race
machine (for example, it's the winner of the Mopar Las Vegas
