Arguably the most sought after of GTO models came about in 1967 with the introduction of the new 400ci V8 while continuing with the similar body lines from the previous year. Although, some subtle styling changes at the nose and rear end, along with these new engine options, allowed buyers into showrooms something to get very excited about! Changes were in the making for the GTO for 1968 by GM, so many collectors today continue to seek highly optioned examples in the open market! We are very pleased to offer this finely restored 1967 Pontiac GTO Hardtop finished in Regimental Red exterior over all new Black interior! This example sold new from Miller Pontiac Inc. located in Columbus, Georgia, in July 1967. Our history picks up in February 1987 when Jim Daniel of Altanta, GA purchased this car from Evevette Vincent, who would then keep the car in his possession until October 2012. It remains beautifully solid and rust free, without any signs of damage. It would be cosmetically restored by Mr. Daniel to include a color change from original Champagne Gold to Regimental Red along with an updated interior to black. Once he parted ways after 25 years of ownership, it would find its way to Denny Gunn, a passionate Gateway GTO Club member here in the St. Louis area. With the paintwork surviving rather well, his main focus would be mechanical items, starting with a very complete overhaul of the original engine with an odometer reading of 98,017 miles. All visible components remain 1967 date-coded including an original, factory correct block that was fully rebuilt by Morley Performance Racing Engines with a .040 overbore, notch & honed lifter bores, new forged pistons with 4 valve reliefs, piston rings, resize rods, new ARP rod bolts, ground & polished crank, main bearings, new cam & cam bearings, fully balanced assembly, correct 670 heads with new lifters, springs, & retainers, valve guides & seats, and complete valve adjustment! It was dyno-tuned to 326hp and 404 ft. lbs. of torque. The under hood presentation is quite sharp, but the driving capacity is second to none!! Its a remarkable driver accumulating 6,828 miles on the drivetrain since completion. The entire differential was rebuilt with new 3.55 gearing, axle seals, and bearings by STL Tuners LLC! The original 14 wheels were refinished, then fittedwith new Coker supplied radial tires, trim rings, center caps, and lug bolts. The complete front end suspension was rebuilt and upgraded to incorporate power disc brakes, the rear brakes also fitted with completely new drum equipment along with new Delco spiral shocks, new springs & isolators.
