In 1966 the highly successful Pontiac GTO became its own model
series with a significant redesign. The GTO body was redrawn to the
familiar curving lines of the "coke bottle" shape with minimal
chrome trim. The headlights were stacked at opposite ends of the
split grill with GTO badging.
This car features the Tri Power 289 cu. in. V-8 which produced 360
h.p. The transmission is a floor mounted automatic. Tri Power
refers to a system of three double barreled Rochester carberators
which dramatically improved the performance of the standard 289 cu.
in. V-8.
A two door convertible with white vinyl interior and bucket seats,
this car is painted in a dramatic maroon that seems to fit the GTO
styling perfectly. The interior features white vinyl bucket seats
and a bench seat in the rear. The convertible top is also in
white.
If you love muscle cars this is a great example of the GTO is its
early days.
