Vehicle Description
Gorgeous Bird! Slick black paint with rich black cloth top and
those wire wheels with whitewalls really look great. It also has
very desirable power steering and brakes. It has been body off the
frame restored. We sold this car 10 years ago and that owner took
excellent care of it.
EXTERIOR: I'm going to say it looks better than new because the
factory did not put out a paint job as smooth and glossy as this. I
am looking at the body it is straight, fits nicely, no bubbling or
damage that I found. All of the chrome and trim shines bright. It
has a factory convertible top frame that has been restored and it
is reupholstered with black German cloth material, the plastic rear
window is clear. New weatherstrips on the top. Reproduction BF
Goodrich Silvertown wide white walls and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels
with the black Thunderbird spinners. The fender skirts do not
interfere with the wheels on this one. Door jambs are nice and
smooth, the weather strips and sill plates have been replaced.
Air is pushed in the motor through the ram air scoop on the hood
and out the bumper through the exhaust. It was and is a cool
car.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car and it's in excellent shape. The
dash pad is mint, the gauges and knobs are all very good. Carpet,
upholstery and door panels have been replaced. Miscellaneous items
like the horn ring, brake pedal, kick panels etc are all in very
nice shape. This one has seatbelts, original Town and Country radio
and reproduction floor mats.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It more than just detailed, it was taken apart
and restored. You can tell each component was removed restored
individually. Has the dress up kit which includes aluminum fin
valve covers and chrome air cleaner lid. It also has the very
desirable power steering and power brakes option. Newer Interstate
battery with a built in battery tender. The engine bay was painted
gloss black, even has Paint OK decals. Some easy detailing can make
this beautiful motor compartment even better.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Grey plaid liner looks new. Has a matching white
wall tire that's never been used. Under the mat is completely solid
metal painted satin black, the bottom side of the trunk lid and
jamb is glossy. Excellent weather strip.
UNDERSIDE: It was over 10 years ago but you can see this car was
taken apart and restored properly. The front suspension and
steering was all rebuilt, cleaned and painted. Bottom of motor and
the transmission is still clean. Rear end was apart and restored.
Shocks, gas tank, brakes exhaust were replaced. Very solid floors
and braces with factory undercoat. Smooth, clean frame was painted
semi gloss black.
This is a properly restored, beautiful T-bird. Easy to drive with
automatic, power steering and brakes. The T-bird was America's
other sports car for 3 years short years then Ford decided to add a
backseat. In many ways it was more refined then the Corvette but
still offered performance and sportiness. I have always loved the
ram air scoop on the hood, I dont know of any other car doing that
back then. It was impressive in 1957 and still is today!
