1993 Chevrolet Corvette
History
The Chevrolet Corvette (C4) was a sports car produced by Chevrolet
from 1984 to 1996. The C4 Corvette represented a clean break from
the Zora Arkus-Duntov-designed C3, with a completely new chassis
and sleeker, more modern but still evolutionary styling.
Why This Car Is Special
The 1993 Corvette we have at Skyway Classics is special because it
is the 40th Anniversary of the Corvette. Mechanically the 1993
Corvette Coupe also remained virtually unchanged, although some
small, but significant improvements had been made to make the
Corvette continually more competitive on the racetrack.
Mechanical
While the LT-1's horsepower remained at 300, several modifications
were made to make the engine quieter. First, the heat shield design
was changed from a single piece stamping to a two-piece sandwich
type shield that was self-damping.
Second, the LT-1 camshaft exhaust lobe profile was modified to
reduce the exhaust valve closing velocity. Additionally, a
shortening of the inlet stroke duration allowed a longer exhaust
stroke duration with no increase in overlap area between the two
strokes.
Third, new thermostat polyester valve covers replaced the 1984-1992
magnesium covers. These covers were isolated from the heads by a
gasket in the normal location, but also by gaskets under the heads
of the mounting hardware.
Our black 93 has all in a great factory correct engine compartment
plus all the other performance aspects such as great suspension and
handling as what you would expect from a Corvette.
Interior
Perhaps one of the most notable improvements to the 1993 Corvette
which ours has is the introduction of a passive keyless entry (PKE)
system. Unlike other keyless entry systems, which required the
vehicle owner/operator to unlock the vehicle by pressing a
"LOCK/UNLOCK" button on a small transmitter, the PKE system
automatically communicated with the Corvette when the driver was in
the general proximity of the vehicle.
The black interior fits like a glove as you slip into it and gaze
at the cockpit with all the factory gauges with their orange
lighting at night, Bose Stereo Radio System and all power
accessories too.
Exterior
Our Black Beauty 1993 Corvette is stealthy looking in all black,
with shiny factory wheels and performance tires, and has a great
sound coming out the dual exhaust and chrome tips underneath the
Corvette.
Conclusion
The 1993 Chevrolet Corvette we have at Skyway Classics is a great
car of that era that you can enjoy as a daily driver or cruise on
Route 66 out to the west coast. You can have it all. Performance,
handling, comfort, and technology. Come see it today.
