Vehicle Description
Fully documented ownership history from brand new numbers matching
K-Code 1966 Mustang GT! Finished in Tahoe Turquoise Metallic with a
Light Aqua/White Crinkle Vinyl Pony interior, it is a stunning car.
Powered by a rare and powerful 289c.i. 4v HiPo V8 and backed by a
proper 4-speed manual transmission. Only 5,469 K-codes were
produced in 1966, which includes the convertible and fastback form.
The P10-designated GT Package from the factory makes this iconic
Pony car only adds to its rarity. The factory original door data tag
and VIN plate are affixed to the driver's door where it was put at
the factory 50 years ago. It has never been removed, swapped to
another door, or replaced with a reproduction tag. The VIN stamps
are clearly visible on the driver inner fender well. It was
repainted once in June of 1984. The paint found under the hood,
door & truck jams remain factory original. Interior is beautiful
and remains all original with exception to new front seat covers
that were replaced in the early 1980's. Pulling clean and strong
through all 4 gears, and putting the power down through the correct
3.50:1 limited-slip geared 9'' rear end, this is a blast from the
past. The Decoded Vehicle Identification Plate on the driver's door
is again unaltered and is the original plate that matches the
casting number on the engine block and the VIN stamped under the
hood.Warranty Number: 6R07K1838026: Year- 1966R: Plant- San Jose07:

ManualThe history of this car is completely documented from brand
new! It began as a special order for a Ford mechanic located at
Thompson-Fauskee Ford based in Santa Barbara, CA. Ordered with a
host of options, and a few dealer-installed features after it was
delivered on April 21, 1966, just 10 days after it was built, this
is a highly equipped example. Factory options included GT
Equipment, Hi-Po 271hp engine, limited-slip differential, red band
nylon tires, interior dcor group, deluxe seats front & rear, AM
radio, tinted windshield, hazard switch, 2-speed wipers, styled
steel wheels, and Rally Pac tachometer & clock. Dealer installed
accessories included a Ford Studio Sonic Sound System with rear
speaker & reverb box mounted in the trunk, vinyl roof, rubber floor
mats, and a hood safety lock to prevent anyone from opening the
hood once the car was locked. Each K-Code Mustang had a special
badge on their front fenders that read "HIGH PERFORMANCE 289". No
doubt about it, the K-Code Mustang was all about performance and
was not available with air conditioning or power steering and you
couldn't buy one with an automatic transmission until the 1966
model year. The engines included upgraded pistons, cylinder heads,
Autolite 4100 carburetor, solid lifters & cam, special crank,
connecting rods, exhaust manifolds, and more. In addition, one look
under the hood and you'd notice the chrome air cleaner and valve
covers. Hiding behind the engine lays a high-performance clutch;
heavy duty driveshaft, 9" rear differential, and suspension. With
an advertised 271hp at its disposal, it was easy to tell this car
from other 289 powered Mustangs of the day. The GT Package also had
some serious hardware, namely a 16:1 quick ratio steering box,
front disc brakes, heavy-duty suspension, springs, shocks, and sway
bar, GT ornamentation, fog lights, and trumpeted dual exhaust
coming through the rear valance panel. This particular "K-car" is
truly spectacular and among the best driver examples, you will
find. All proper original K-code items are present and accounted
for, another rarity. The optional 8,000 RPM Rally Pac gauges are
original and still operational. This original owner parted ways with
this muscle car and it sold to the second owner in April of 1969.
This new Santa Clara, CA owner meticulously accounted for every
mile, service, gas fill up, and gas mileage in a small notebook for
the next 17 years! It was then sold in 1986 to a Fresno, CA airline
pilot who cared for it 14 years until selling it in June of 2000.
The 4-previous owners took pride in maintaining this American
classic until it was eventually purchased by a collector in August
2014. The only replacement items on the car include the radiator
(original included), fuel pump (original included), wheel trim
rings, brakes, valve covers (originals included), and a few other
wearable items. The original carburetor was rebuilt by Pony Carbs.
The double redline tires are brand new having only a few hundred
miles on them. This particular car is registered in the K-code
registry and comes complete with all original tire changing
equipment in the trunk, the original window sticker from
Thompson-Fauskee Ford, original California black plates & dealer
frame, written ownership documentation, service records, and
registration documentation. For more information on this fabulous
