Vehicle Description

By this point, it's probably become second nature to type up www.RKMotors.com and scope some of the coolest classics on the planet. That's why we're sure you'll dig this choice turbo diesel Hummer! Sporting an easy 24,847 miles, this awesome H1 is a tough, mil-spec warrior that doubles as a suave boulevard stunner. And if you're ready to enjoy a serious ute with serious chops, it's your chance to claim some outsized cool!

GREEN WITH ENVY

Nearly every iconic off-roader has a cult following, but the legendary H1 is arguably one of the most sought after 4x4s of all time. Introduced in 1992 as a civilian-friendly version of AM General's M998 Humvee, the H1 remained the foundation of the Hummer brand for close to 20 years. This 1996 model wraps all that worldly swagger in a smooth coat of Emerald Green 2-stage that's highlighted by tasteful tan pinstriping. At the front of that pigment, an impressive 72 degree approach angle leads an optional Warn winch, which founds tough tow hooks beneath a broad brush guard, Dick Cepek driving lamps and a snazzy GE searchlight. Behind those torches, an HMMWV hood leads the eye to a color-keyed snorkel, which fronts chip-free glass that's flanked by matte wipers, a small cargo lamp and foldable mirrors. Those mirrors reflect extruded doors and HMMWV quarters, which recess small marker lamps above a massive 16 inches of ground clearance. Between those quarters, a covered cargo hold spills through a "HUMMER" branded tailgate. And that tailgate shades a frame-mounted hitch, a quartet of Jerrycans, two more tow hooks and an impressive 37.5 degrees of departure angle.

DIESEL AND MUSCLE

Tilt this Hummer's hood and you'll find 6.5 liters of familiar GM Turbo Diesel. Still bolted into HMMWVs by AM General, that proven mill trades clich power numbers for a livable combination of commonality and reliability. As the first light duty diesel to feature electronically controlled fuel injection, the engine provides steady, torque-rich acceleration to a stable, 86.5 inch track. At the front of that track, a massive radiator is mounted high, and on an angle, to optimize cooling while minimizing vulnerability. Dual batteries are raised next to a sealed air box to allow the safe fording of 30 inches of water. Behind the engine, an HMMWV frame tucks a flush driveline that, with the help of a proven GM 4L80E 4-speed, enables the truck to climb a 22-inch step and handle 60 percent grades. Power-assisted steering makes turns manageable. Power-assisted HMMWV discs are mounted inboard for the sake of durability. Two fuel tanks offer extended-range travel. And at the corners, polished alloys wrap massive 37x12.50R16.5 Goodyear Wrangler MTs around an optional Central Tire Inflation System.

SURPRISINGLY OPULENT

When you step up to this level, trucks are all about combining the best elements of comfort and utility. That's why it's so refreshing to hop in the cab of this purposeful but nicely appointed Hummer. The stars of the show are cloth ISRI buckets, which frame a small, rearward-facing bench. In front of those thrones, a 2-tone dash hangs intricate telemetry next to modern climate control. At the sides of that dash, simple door panels front modern power windows and modern power door locks. The driver rules the road through a "HUMMER" branded steering wheel, which laps studious Cruise Control and a tilting column. And a remote-controlled Alpine CD player drowns the drone through a Bazooka bass tube and crisp Rockford Fosgate speakers.
