Vehicle Description
1963 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD III H.J. MULLINER CONVERTIBLE LSCX447
74,592 KM (44,755 MILES) One of 27 left drives built, this specimen
was delivered to Mrs. Dan-Axel Brostrom of Stockholm, Sweden on
March 2, 1963 with an interesting host of special options including
removable headrest to the right front seat, special veneers to
match those in an S3 Flying Spur (BC16LXA), compartment to rear
center armrest with hinged lid, dashboard mounted tachometer to
replace the left side cubby box and more. Mr. Brostrom was the
scion of the Brostrom Shipbuilding Family and from 1961-1965 was
married to the actress Anabelle Lee.For a few years the car became
the property of a well known Hollywood producer and automobile
enthusiast who resold it to a noted Beverly Hills designer in 1970
according to a loan document in its files dated May 11, 1970. It
was acquired from that lady by ourselves through an agent in
January 1987 and supplied to a Miami, Florida based economics
professor one month later. That gentleman later sold it through a
New York collectible car dealer to the same Hollywood film producer
(his second ownership of the automobile) who in 1998 allowed us to
acquire it as part of an important group of Rolls-Royce and
Bentleys being assembled for an enthusiastic gentlemen who later
entrusted it to a reliable museum facility which held it from 2002
until we reacquired it in November 2009. It has been part of two
important collections since a complete and thorough upgrade of the
December 2010 restoration and is in virtually the same Concours
condition today. The Dusk Grey lacquer finish is a fine complement
to the fresh Scarlet Connolly hide interior, both colors as
originally supplied. The interior wood veneers have been refinished
to show quality for the first time since 1963. The mechanical
aspects of this never damaged, very strong exciting performer have
been freshly upgraded to provide years of reliable enjoyment to its
eighth owner in over 54 years. As part of the process the
underside, engine, engine bay and wiring were brought to Concours
standards as well.Unlike some European delivered examples, it is
equipped with original equipment air conditioning and power window
lifts. Complete tools and correct original owners handbook complete
the package. The daughter of the first owner has kindly provided us
with copies of original photos of her mother with the car. These
are the black amp; white shots shown. The present odometer reading
is 75,309 kilometers (approximately 46,794 miles) and the known
history, lack of wear to key indicators and the existing older
service records tend to confirm it. This is by far the finest of
necessarily few real left drives available anywhere.
