Now for sale at our Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is this
stunning 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible. Is there a
better muscle car to drive? The '65 convertible four speed is a car
that is more rare than one might think. Less than 20,000
convertible Chevelles were made in total. Drop out the SS models
equipped with four speeds and you've got quite a rare car. Almost
55 years later and there are very few of these machines left. Many
of those on the road are in poor condition. The car was completely
restored in 1995 by the second owner. The original 327 CID V8 was
replaced in lieu of a beefier 10:1 350. The Super T-10 four-speed
was left in place but was complemented with a new clutch. The
interior was revamped with a Year One interior kit and Stewart
Warner gauges. The most special change made was the awesome and
unique liquid flame paint job. Since then the cooling system has
been upgraded along with a few trim components. This car was put
together to be driven rather than just looked at. It drives
excellently. The engine is a 1969 350 SB bored 0.30-inch over,
balanced, blueprinted, iron GM rods, Speed Pro flat top 10:1
pistons, Comp Cams CS-XE2684-10 hydraulic camshaft, Weiand
four-barrel aluminum intake manifold, Holley Street Avenger 670-cfm
carburetor, Accel HEI ignition, Hedman headers, Flowmaster dual 2
inch exhaust and assembly by Gary Langseth. Rebuilt OE suspension
with 11-inch clutch. 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 posi differential.
The wheels are Billet Specialty 17x7, 4.75-inch. Inside you will
find a Hurt shifter, Chevrolet walnut three-spoke steering wheel,
Custom Auto Sound AM/FM stereo. Lee's Custom Collision did the
Ember Red multi-stage urethane paint job and the flames done by
Auto Art's Charles Armstrong in Prescott, AZ. To view the car in
