The 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage Coupe featured here is finished in stunning Platinum Blue-Grey Metallic over a black leather interior. This particular example was built new for the U.K. market and was sold new by Plough Motors in England. More recently, this DBS spent many years in Canada and recently underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration that took two years to complete. It is factory equipped with the Vantage specification, a ZF 5-speed manual gearbox and right-hand drive which is quite possibly the most desirable configuration. This example performs like new, still features its numbers matching Vantage specification engine, is ready to drive or show and would make a welcome addition to any premier collection. We are extremely proud to offer this investment-grade 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage Coupe to the most particular collector, investor or enthusiast who only desires the best the collector car market can offer. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013, 16% in 2014 and 17% in 2015 while posting gains of 467% over the last 10 years. HISTORY OF THE ASTON MARTIN DBS
The Aston Martin DBS was originally intended to be the DB6’s successor, though the two models would remain in production simultaneously for three years while the Aston Martin engineers developed a new V8 engine. As a result, Sir David Brown opted to utilize the existing Dual Overhead Cam DB Series inline 6-cylinder engine that produced 282 horsepower. The Vantage specification engine was an option for the DBS, featuring triple Weber DCOE carburetors atop an increased compression ratio of 9:4:1 resulting in an astounding 325 horsepower! The six cylinder DBS was in production from 1967 to 1972, during which only 317 right-hand drive ZF 5-speed gearbox examples were produced, few of which were equipped from the factory in full Vantage specification. The DBS was the last Aston Martin produced under the leadership tenure of Sir David Brown and examples (particularly those with the factory Vantage specification) have become highly sought-after by collectors today.
