Vehicle Description
This matching-numbers Riviera Gran Sport spent most of its life in
southern California and was a solid car before its extensive
restoration. In 2008 the car was stripped to bare metal and
resprayed in its original color of Verde Green. The car is
laser-straight with excellent gaps throughout. The interior was
completely refinished, all weatherstripping was replaced, and all
of the chrome and stainless were refinished. This Buick comes
loaded with options, including air conditioning that was recently
upgraded to R134a Freon, power steering with tilt column, power
seat, power brakes with finned aluminum HD drums, power windows,
cruise control, power antenna and a rear defroster. This car has
extensive and detailed restoration notes with a binder of receipts
that accompany the car. The 1965 Riviera GS was a one-year-only
model with the hideaway clamshell headlights. It was also the only
year the Gran Sport was a performance package in the Riviera,
boasting the larger 425ci Nailhead V8 engine with dual 4-barrel
carburetors. A special heavy-duty automatic transmission was used
with a "BS" designation on the tag. The rear differential was a
3.42 posi-traction standard. Only 3,354 of these cars were produced
originally.
