For sale in our Atlanta showroom is a 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land
Cruiser. Toyota started production of the Land Cruiser FJ40 in 1960
and began importing them to the US in 1963. The last US bound FJ
rolled off the line in 1983, making a brief comeback as a modern
SUV in the US called the FJ Cruiser from 2006 to 2014. From 1963 to
1983 the FJ40 saw little change aesthetically, the only real
changes were improvements in technology mechanically. The Classic
FJs are as comfortable on a trail as they are on the highway
because they were designed to do anything you could ever ask it to
do and do it well. The FJ40 is a rugged, two-door, 4x4 vehicle with
amazing off-road capabilities, and rather primitive interior
treatments. This unit sports a soft top so open-air cruising is a
possibility. FJs came without carpet and with vinyl upholstery, so
even if you're out in the mud and in the elements, they're easy to
keep clean. This is a truck you can literally just hose out. The
front sports a separated bench style seat, and the rear has "jump
seats" which can be folded aside for more cargo space. Under the
hood of this Land Cruiser you'll find the rebuilt original 2F 4.2L
inline 6-cylinder engine with owner stated 31,000-miles since,
backed up by a 4-speed manual transmission, 4:10 gear ratio, and a
4x4 transfer case. Stout axle's front and rear and retro off-road
tires will take this thing just about anywhere you want to go. This
FJ is a 3-owner vehicle, owned by the current for the last 23
years, and states he's replaced the alternator, coil, distributor,
as well as adding a header, weber carburetor, and lift kit. He has
included the owner's manual, wiring diagram, as well as a full set
of tech manuals. It runs and drives great and is just begging for
mud, rocks, and trails! This FJ would make a great weekend warrior
or a daily driver, and will put most new 4x4s to shame off the
pavement. Vintage 4x4s are in high demand, and most have rusted
away to nothing. Luckily this Toyota has been well preserved and is
ready for many more years of duty. To view this vehicle in greater
