1988 GMC Jimmy Sierra Classic
History
The GMC Jimmy is the sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Blazer. It is
a 4x4 SUV that started production in 1970 to counter Ford's very
popular Bronco. The second generation of Jimmy and Blazer started
in 1973 with the Square Bodies and eventually turned into the
Yukon.
What Makes This One Special
This Jimmy has been restored inside and out and looks great. A
Rough Country 6" suspension lift gives her a great look and makes
room for the 33x12.50R15 Firestone Destination M/T tires wrapping
Pro Comp aluminum alloy wheels.
Mechanical
The 350 CID V8 engine has been mildly built with a Holley TBI
injection system and headers. The engine runs very strong with a
great sound and is backed by an automatic transmission shifted on
the column. Warn hubs lock in the front axles when you're ready to
hit a trail or power through some snow. Power steering and power
brakes make this Jimmy a joy to drive.
Interior
The interior is in great shape with reupholstered front and rear
seats, new dash pad, new rubber floor covering, an AM/FM/CD player
with amp and subwoofers in the rear for a great sound. This Jimmy
is loaded with options including power rear window, power windows,
power locks, cold blowing A/C and tilt steering wheel. A chrome
Grant GT steering wheel has been installed and looks great against
the red interior and aluminum accents.
Exterior
This is a solid Jimmy with a good repaint. You are sure to get
looks and thumbs up everywhere you go. The color combination really
fits the body style and the lift kit, tires and wheels put it over
the top. Take the removable hard top off and let the wind and sun
surround you. Need to tow a boat or a trailer? No problem with this
Jimmy as it already has a hitch installed with 4 and 7 pin
connectors.
Conclusion
This Jimmy is very cool and drives out great. It needs nothing but
a new proud owner. Don't pay thousands more for a Chevy emblem on
the grill, the Jimmy and Blazer are the same vehicle! Square body
trucks and SUVs are climbing in value and now is the time to buy to
enjoy and as a solid investment. Comes with a nice car cover as
well!
