Vehicle Description
This California 1977 Datsun 280Z was found with no rust and was
sandblasted to bare metal before painting. The body was modified by
removing the front bumper and replacing it with a fiberglass
valance and driving lights. The rear bumper was removed, filled and
rolled under. New door handles, retro chrome mirrors, exterior and
interior weather stripping, and body emblems were all replaced. All
of the original stainless trim was polished, and the car was fitted
with new retro-style 4-spoke wheels and Yokohama tires. The
interior includes all-new carpet, headliner, door panels,
stock-style plastic dash cover, leather seats, emblems and a Grant
wood steering wheel. The new console includes a wood shifter knob,
shifter boot and custom switches. A new stereo was installed with
speakers in the hatch. The original windows were cleaned and
tinted. The suspension was replaced with a T3 Motorsport fully
adjustable coilover suspension, T3 adjustable caster/camber plates
up front, T3 adjustable TC rods, T3 bump stops and KONI 5-way
adjustable shocks. The rack & pinion steering unit was rebuilt. The
rebuilt front disc brakes include Kryo grooved rotors with a new
master cylinder, stainless-steel brake lines and high-performance
brake pads. The rebuilt rear drum brakes have high-performance
shoes. All bearings and seals in the rear driveline have been
replaced and Energy Suspension bushings are placed throughout. This
280Z is powered by a 2.8-liter L28 engine mated to a rebuilt
5-speed 280ZX manual transmission. It's equipped with chrome
powder-coated intake, Weber throttle body, high-flow fuel
injectors, K&N cone air filter, custom bent inlet tube, starter
and alternator, hi-volume Mellings oil pump, 4-2-1 header and
custom-built 2-1/2" exhaust with chrome tip. It also has an
aluminum high-flow radiator, aftermarket air conditioning, Optima
battery, lightweight flywheel, and high-performance clutch and
pressure plate. This 280Z has 700 miles since its completion in
Spring 2016.
