Finished in unmarked Opalescent blue with the correct red interior, a Brantz Classique tripmeter and Willans 3 point seatbelts are the only visual clues that this meticulously maintained E-type has enjoyed some classic rally tours.
Many superlatives have been expended on the Malcolm Sayer penned masterpiece that is the E-type. You may have read the stories of 100mph road tests on the newly opened M1 and the praise from Enzo Ferrari. Without doubt it is accepted that the Series 1 roadster we have here is the prettiest, most desirable derivative and usually the most expensive. To find a matching numbers 3.8 is becoming increasingly difficult as production changed after just 4 years to the 4.2 in 1964.
This Series 1 started life in (rust-free) California and was registered back in the UK in March 1992. Professionally converted to RHD and upgraded with the popular Getrag 5 speed transmission. This lovely E-type has been with the current owners since 2010 and they have enjoyed the gentler rallies including the 2012 Champagne rally, the Amiens rally and this year the Rally Round Paris to Amsterdam finishing well up the leaderboard. We have looked after this car recently and as you would imagine the car has performed faultlessly and completed all events with poise and style. Certainly a car we can recommend.
