This is one of the nicest '66 Thunderbird’s I have seen in a very long time! Not just in the overall looks department (which it is), but the way this T-bird starts, runs, and drives makes it an absolute pleasure to cruise around in. This is the last year for this body style and that means it had the best technology poured into it at that time.
Driving around in this Thunderbird would be similar to driving around in your living room on the sofa... It's that comfortable, and well appointed.
The base/coat, clear/coat paint is beautiful in it's original color, and the vinyl top is also in excellent condition with its “Landau bars” adorning the sides.
The panel fitment is spot on, and coupled with the paint, I suspect this T-bird looks nicer that when it rolled out of the factory.
Open up the solid doors and you can feel the quality Ford put into these T-Birds. The interior is extremely well appointed with the four spherical gauges and the “thermometer” style speedometer, upper and lower consoles and bucket seating, and tilt-away steering wheel all trimmed in bright work. This era of Thunderbird saw the tail end of the “Space-age” design concepts that began in the 1950's, and has the mid-century modern vibe that will always be in style.
The undercarriage is clean and dry and although not detailed, it is original with no rust and it's original undercoating, and you'll notice you can still see the original red oxide primer showing.
All of the glass is nice and clear, under the hood is clean, as is the fully lined luggage compartment. I really can't emphasize enough what a beautiful, clean, excellent driving Thunderbird this is. Take it absolutely anywhere and enjoy the ride and the thumbs-up you'll get. Take it to a car show, a cruise-in, a long road trip...Anywhere! Truly a great car!
