This car went through a restoration 5 years ago. Rust was cut out, and metal was welded in where needed. Rockers were completely replaced with new ones, photos of the process are available. The interior was replaced in 2017. All of the interior was replaced with new from Clarks Corvairs, the seat foam is new, door panels and sun visors. The items not replaced were refurbished. Dash has been taken apart, cleaned, new quartz clock and LED lights installed. New windshield, new reproduction door handles, NOS or new trim. Back bumper is new old stock, the front is rechromed from California Corvairs. Unique features include a new Power top, Telescoping steering column with the original classic "wood" wheel that is free of cracks and any flaws. New wiring harness and power top switch. Door seals, all seals around the convertible top were replaced.
It is an AC car, brackets and fittings are present. We have not activated the AC because we haven't felt the need for AC in a convertible. The car is restored to stock, so the buyer can choose to install either the original equipment AC or a modern AC unit. We have brackets and parts for the stock unit, but no compressor. The only thing non stock on the car are the wheels and tires. Photos are included that show the car with the 13" stock tires and wire caps that would have come with the car originally. The buyer may want to return the car to stock original--the suspension on the car was not changed to accommodate the modern wheels and tires.
The freshened 140hp engine has been driven about 2 thousand miles, runs well. Steering, brakes, lights, mechanicals operate as they should, with the exception of the left blinker which doesn't cancel after a turn.
The buyer should expect to find signs of normal use as the car has been driven since restoration. It has won in almost every show that it has entered and is ready for years of driving enjoyment. The car features 16" chrome Iroc wheels and sport tires.
On the subject of cruisers, this car and Corvairs in general are not hot rods. It will not snap your neck off the starting line. It's a 2 speed power glide. We would classify this car as a nice cruiser, very capable of highway speeds, 70-80mph with a high gear ratio and gets decent fuel mileage. If you want something classy, with a lot of style, beautifully equipped, you'll find it a joy to drive.
