Vehicle Description
This car is an authentic '50's Hot Rod. It is a frame off
restoration of an early Hot Rod originally built in Southern
California in the 1950's. The Hot Rod was built using a full race
flathead V-8 engine, which has been bored and stroked to 296 CID
and balanced to +/- gram. The heads have been ported and
polished, and a Navarro tri-power intake manifold sits atop the
engine with 3 Stromberg #97 carburetors, a full race cam, a
Bee-Hive finned aluminum oil cooling system and a Mallory four lobe
ignition system. The 200 HP engine is coupled with a 1948 Merc
3-speed transmission. While the car has undergone a complete
restoration, it has retained all the original 50's speed equipment.
It features a 1948 Mercury brakes system design, 1954 Mercury swing
pedals, a dropped axle, and a Columbia two speed rear end. The
exhaust system has glass pack mufflers and "cut-outs" for increased
horsepower when opened. The period perfect wide white wall tires
are mounted on early Ford and Lincoln rims. The interior, including
the rumble seat, is done in a tuck and roll design. The car has two
hoods: a stock hood and a Hot Rod hood with a louvered top and no
side panels. The car was finished off with a custom mixed lacquer
finish.
Estimate: $50,000-$65,000
