Vehicle Description
1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series 4
This DB4 was originally supplied on 31st January 1962 through agent
J.Blake' to its first owner Mr Richard Whittaker of Blackpool.
Finished in Off White coachwork with Terracotta hide, a very
popular colour combination in period and optioned with Overdrive,
chrome wire wheels, heated rear screen and chrome GB digits.
Factory service records on file show that the car returned to the
works in May 1962 for a replacement shock absorber and later
returned in March1967 for a new head gasket, fan belt, spark plugs
and engine tune.
Understood to have passed through the hands of four private owners
in the north of England from 1974 through to 2001, at which point
the DB4 was acquired by marque specialists R.S.Williams who made it
the subject of a comprehensive restoration in house.
The body and chassis were fully restored and bare metalled,
re-painted in Black Pearl metallic coachwork and the interior
re-trimmed in Deep Burgundy Connolly hide and the DB4 was converted
to left hand drive steering with a KM/H speedometer. The engine was
fully rebuilt to 4.2L with an unleaded cylinder head and triple
carburettors were fitted, bringing the car to Vantage
specification. In addition an aluminium radiator was fitted to
ensure cool running of the engine. To finish the DB4, a new set of
Turrino wheels with three eared Borrani spinners were fitted, shod
with Avon Turbosteel tires.
Following the restoration the car was purchased by a collector in
Germany who enjoyed the car for a number of years before
R.S.Williams handled the sale to the next owner. Recently acquired
by JD Classics and in superb condition throughout, this elegant DB4
is ready for its next custodian to use and enjoy. Please note we
can offer a conversion back to right hand drive steering should the
new owner require and a number of bespoke upgrades, please contact
