Vehicle Description
It's one of the most distinctive models Chevy has produced - this
2006 Chevrolet SSR mixes vintage styling cues borrowed from a line
of Chevy trucks from yesteryear with ample power, thoroughly modern
features and convenience. It's logged only 17,082 miles - just a
little over a year's worth of driving, by most standards - and
carries a great looking exterior color to go along with its
considerable utility.
That unique appearance - part modern and part vintage - was
inspired by Chevy's line of Advance Design trucks of the late '40s
to mid-'50s, especially the look of the front grille and fenders.
The red paint draped over it is its original shade and has the
unmistakable look that comes by way of good care and plenty of
shelter, while featuring some nicely executed pinstriping on its
hood and down its sides that was added sometime later. A power
convertible hard top provides the fun of open-air driving with the
flick of a switch while giving this versatile ride a totally
different look. All of its exterior fittings reflect the same clean
condition - both the headlight and taillight lenses are nice and
clear, the side running boards are unblemished and feature
still-fresh rubber pads, and the badging looks as it did when new.
Having the good fortune to have avoided any collisions during its
lifetime - as it's clean AutoCheck report will attest - this SSR
remains in the precise alignment it left the factory with.
As you'd expect from a car so lightly travelled, the black leather
bucket seats with their integrated headrests inside show very light
wear as they straddle a fresh center console over an expanse of
black carpeting that's yet to show any fading. Despite its vintage
inspiration, the SSR offers a decidedly modern array of features
inside, including heated power seats, a tilt column, cruise
control, power windows that still function as they did when new,
power door locks and remote door openers. An AM/FM/CD stereo sits
at the center of the dash to attend to your audio needs. The air
conditioning system is still at its best, cooling the cabin through
four well-placed vents in the dash, which itself is also in good
form, with its set of gauges clear and fully functional and no
blemishes to speak of over its black surface. The bed area in back
is protected by a cover that lifts via a hydraulic power assist and
offers a surprising amount of usable space.
The components under the vintage-looking hood provide the SSR with
plenty of performance to go along with its visual novelty. A 6.0
liter V8 sits at the center of the very clean engine bay, offering
a full 400 horsepower by virtue of Chevy's happiness-inspiring
decision to add 100 horsepower to the SSR's output just a year
before this '06 came out. It's got 400 lb/ft of torque to go along
with it to provide that prompt, exhilarating response we crave when
stepping down on the gas pedal and pairs with a 4-speed automatic
transmission with overdrive to bring RPMs down at highway speeds. A
wide track and low stance combines with precise power steering and
traction control to give the SSR agile handling that would be well
out of reach of the average pickup truck, while power disc brakes
at all four corners bring prompt, fade-resistant stops. This
inventive and very functional Chevy rolls on a set of stock SSR
wheels - 19" in front and 20" in back - that are outfitted with
Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires.
This 2006 Chevrolet SSR is a fun and versatile ride that's at its
best in any situation, from inspired driving to carrying a load in
back during weekend errands. Call today!
