1999 Plymouth Prowler
with only 11 actual miles
Rare optional Prowler Yellow Paint
1999 was the first year for the Yellow color and only 605 were produced in this color for the 1999 model year
The Prowler in itself is one of the rarest production cars built as the entire run totaled 11,702 cars from 1997-2002
This Prowler is the nicest one you would ever find period! I challenge anyone to find one better!
To this day it is still amazing that a car of this caliber was even produced. A factory built tribute to a truly original American art form: (The Street Rod) is unheard of. Usually a car of this type is always a concept car and never a production vehicle. In fact the car was never intended to be built forever. Only a number of them were built primarily to draw people into dealerships to attract them to buy other Chrysler and Plymouth vehicles. It was all hand assembled built on the same assembly line as the Dodge Viper in Michigan. Some may say they are underpowered but if you ask them have they ever driven one there answer is usually a no. The Prowler was never intended to be a performance car like the Viper but instead an all around town, drop top, boulevard street rod style cruiser. The car only weighs 2,838 Ibs and with the Aluminum V6 producing 253 H.P. it has plenty of performance for that cruise around town. 0-60 time was a respectable 5.8 seconds. The frame is all aluminum and is a rolling celebration of new technology and materials. Staying true to its hot-rod roots, however Prowler's architecture remains body-on-frame, and the top priorities-rigidity, strength yet light in weight-were all met with the use of tomorrow's material's technology.
Specifications and features include:
3.5 Liter High-Output SOHC 24-valve Aluminum V6 ( Producing 253 H.P. at 6,400 rpm and 255 pound-feet of torque at 3,950 rpm
All aluminum Block with a forged steel crank bedded in the four main bearings. The heads and pistons are aluminum. It's been dressed-up, and heated-up slightly--a less restrictive air cleaner, cast stainless steel exhaust manifolds that make tube-type headers look primitive, and EFI linear cam throttle body for surprisingly quick, crisp response, so stay awake.
