Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 2 owner,
numbers-matching 1972 Ford Torino Sport. The car was sold new at
Keller Ford in Grand Rapids, MI. She holds a 351 Windsor V8 with an
automatic transmission and is RWD. The 1972 Gran Torino emphasized
the "long hood short deck" look as well as "coke bottle" styling
more than ever before. The most radical change was a large
egg-crate grille in an oval opening that had chrome bezels
surrounding the headlamps. She also comes standard with
"DirectAire" ventilation and power brakes.
There were 14 Torino models built in 1972 but only the Gran Torino
Sport came with the Windsor 351 v8, previously known as the Torino
GT and came as a 2-door hard top. A new chassis was introduced in
1972, which gave the Torino a quieter and more isolated ride- it
featured an energy absorbing "S" shaped front end, torque boxes to
isolate road shock, fourteen rubber body mounts and five solid
cross members. Front disc brakes were standard. Over all, the 1972
Torino was a great success with the public and a total of 496,645
units were produced, making it the best-selling intermediate for
1972. This was the first time Ford had ever outsold the Chevrolet
Chevelle since its 1964 introduction.
The car also comes with a spare tire, jack, car cover, AM radio,
headers, chrome air cleaner and valve covers, power steering and
power brakes, owner's manual, 15 inch American Racing wheels with
white letter tires and more.
