This Land Rover Series III Lightweight (also known as an "Airportable") is a former Belgian military vehicle powered by a 2.25L diesel inline four cylinder with a four-speed manual transmission. This is a hard-to-find left hand drive military Land Rover. The Lightweight features a split windscreen, sliding door windows, working fresh air vents and a 24-volt electrical system. The original paint has a patina indicating this vehicle's long military and civilian service, and includes the vehicle's name stenciled on the hood and rear, "Woofie." The canvas top is in fair condition. The frame shows some rust in the right rear side where the frame meets the bumper. Since its importation to the U.S. by P.A. Blanchard in 2012, the Lightweight has been serviced and necessary repairs have been made, including a new starter, ignition switch, hoses, belts, batteries, shocks, fuel pumps and Series III injectors. The current owner has replaced a broken axle and replaced the original wheels with new steel wheels from Rovers North and BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires. The Lightweight starts reliably and runs and drives. It is a great project car or driver.
